Rx, Lies, & Town Hall Hate »
Posted By ameliog 3 months, 2 weeks ago in Political OpinionRight now, what's killing the GOP is it's continuation along the deceitful and politically-suicidal path being constructed by the likes of panelists Palin, Limbaugh and Gingrich. None of these republicans hold elected office, yet they are among the most influential and well-known faces of the GOP. They are also driving out the Party's remaining moderates, swelling the ranks of independents (and, to a lesser extent, the democratic base), while in the process, effectively draining the GOP of its political significance.
If the antics of this past summer represent the future political policy direction of the GOP, what lies ahead is a politically toothless fringe party filled with wacky, post-rational, counter-populists of the type who invaded Town Halls across America and transformed them into a month-long broadcast of the Jerry Springer Show.

i couldn't get past that first sentence.
its interesting to watch the left circle the wagons, but it doesn't downplay the difficulty that Obama will have ramming this through his own party.
if anyone can dredge old propeller postings, i'm giving universal health care, in the more or less current version, about a 20% chance of passing. and that number will drop over time. let's see how thisplays out in November.-

I agree (the GOP is not being killed), there is a core that will live out a generation wanting the privilege of supremacy. There will always be someone to fan the flames. Of course I would like to hear how any of the middle, working class or poor following the destructive tactics justify being the fool for the elites that sponsor this horror.

The GOP is not effective toward running the Planet's most dynamic economy and military, as we see the melt down and poor job of Iraq. Following up hate instead of restoring a government that functions, the GOP is definitely the "Party of NO" (no ideas, no cooperation, no good for the Republic).
There really are gluttons for punishment in this world. -

If this bill doesn't pass the congress to get to the President for a signature who are the losers?

Here we have the economy at a point to possibly recover. President Obama did ram that through to save the global economy. Health care is critical, but he will not go down on this issue with thinking people.

The majority of these selfish, greedy opponents of a consumer-friendly healthcare reform boils down to money. It's always the MONEY to republicons. They are so fearful that they would have to subsidize a public health care option and don't even realize that the option that they oppose would lower their premiums and facilitate a reform in the way their private health care insurers sticks it to consumers which they are a part of.

Consumer friendly? Please show me the numbers of how much a family will save if this passes. Will it be 100, 500, 1,000, 1,500 dollars a year?

Will we get the same kind of care? As in, we call the Dr and we will be able to get an office visit within a day?
Once there and it is decided that we need immediate care, will we be able to rush right then and there and receive that care?
Also show me the numbers that indicate that we will still be having the same sort of advancement in medical innovations that we see now, based on companies hopes of making profits after they spend billions to come up with these innovations. You see that is why the US has made many advances in the field, R funds are used up front so they can make profits. If you take away those incentives the advancements may well come to a screeching halt.
Why would you want to deny people the best of the best ways to help them when they are ill just to satisfy your hatred of profit for a product?
