September 10, 2009; Phoenix, AZ: Bridging AZ Furniture Bank and Intel join together in recognizing National Day of Service on September 11th. Says Dawn Jones, Intel Corporation, spokesperson: “We (Intel staff) collaborate with organizations such as Bridging AZ because volunteerism aligns with our (Intel’s) core values. During the week of National Service, employees will assemble over 200 chairs to benefit non-profits and community organizations . . . Intel also matches employees’ volunteer hours with a cash donation which makes a double impact on the community. It really is a win-win situation for everyone involved.” Intel volunteers commit to assembling 250 new office chairs, and Intel is donating 500 more to support the efforts of Arizona's only Furniture Bank. Bridging AZ staff and Intel volunteers will distribute these chairs to local schools and non-profits. Berger/Allied and U-Haul will provide trucks to aid this effort.
“Bridging AZ is well known for supporting non-profits with furniture and household goods for their clients. We are very pleased to partner with Intel volunteers to support the efforts of social service agencies. The chairs will be given to over 30 non-profit agencies and will help create comfortable work environments. With budget cuts most non-profits are not able to remodel their offices; so I am excited with the opportunity to provide support to our fellow non-profits.” said, Jim Piscopo, founder Bridging AZ Furniture Bank.
