I have to completely disagree about policies like war bolstering the economy. Goes back to guns and butter from econ class. If you are going to spend half a trillion dollars what would you rather have? Thousands of F ed up soldiers who are going to cost even more in medical treatment to help them readjust to society, opening Iraq to Al Quaida, and Iran trying to get nukes and knowing we have seriously reduced our response options, or medical care that will reduce worker sick days and increase productivity, education so we will have a future generation that is more productive, and infrastructure that will make it easier for businesses to ship and trade goods? The republicans have an interesting argument going. Military spending is good but it is really just more big government which they are arguing at the same time is bad. Doesn't make any sense but republicans tend not to. If you are going to spend a fat chunk of government money you might as well get something useful and the Iraq war was a grand F up in every possible way.
