  There are few ways to look at it, here are just two.
  1) If he got to church sooner and thanking God earlier he might avoid the crush.
  2) God is not into all the "thanking" thing.

  Maybe God was just trying to say.
  
  One doesn't have to go to a building to thank Him. One does it in his heart.
  
  Remember, God hates idols. And that is what the church has become for some.
  
  I don't hold onto anything or go anywhere special, except in my heart, to thank God for all He does for me and others who I know.
  
  Some people think God is only in the stone building, or the things built by man to gather in and worship.
  
  Naaaaah !!!

      Anti idol worshipping, many offshoots of Christianity have made a building the church in their theology.
      
      The True Church is the Bride of Jesus Christ !!!
      
      If you are asking if I view the Catholic denomination as the one true faith ??
      
      The answer is I absolutely do not !!!!
      
      I view God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit as the only True Faith.
      
      Any denomination that claims to be the only true faith is a lie !!!
      
      When my last daughter got married this past July, it was in the Catholic Church.
      I do not hold to their views, that only Catholics can receive communion. The communion was offered only to the Catholics. That is not what Jesus said !!!
      
      To me that made the communion a remembrance of the Catholic rules instead of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
      
      I pray to God through Jesus Christ, not Mary, Jesus Christs earthly mother.
      No man can forgive my sins, except Jesus Christ who did it on the cross.
      
      I need no religious medals to keep me safe, nor do I need a rosary to hold while I pray.
      
      Priests who are child molesters, yet claim to be spreading the Word of God, protected by their higher ups. So that the "church" doesn't suffer the consequences of its doctrines.
      
      No I am not anti-Catholic.
      
      But I am against the lies and deceits perpetrated upon the parishioners, who are honestly seeking salvation in Jesus Christ.
      
      So does that make me anti-Catholic in your views ??
      
      If it does. Well I would say that you have a decidedly worldly view of religion, and that you might need to read the Holy Bible.
      Not the one that allows the things of the world to be glorified, but the one that condemns the worldly acts as the things of the flesh.
      To be subdued, so that we may thrive in the Holy Spirit and be alive in Jesus Christ.
      Dead to the sin in the world, and in this world but not of it.
      
      My Home is in Heaven, I'm just here on this earth to do my work for God.
