Not only did Patrick, my heartthrob die today from Pancreatic Cancer, but I lost my little brother Eric who passed away today at 2:35 from Pancreatic cancer. It is a sad painful day for me, I have lost a part of me, after my husband he was my best friend. I miss you Eric!!

TY tehranchick, we didn't find out about Patrick until this evening and thought that he left us with "wonderful" accompanist. They can party together.

This is so sad, even if it was somewhat expected. I don't know a girl of my generation that didn't have a crush on Patrick Swayze at one point or another, and I was no exception.

I did have the pleasure of seeing him occasionally off the screen which added to the whole crush thing too. He and his brother used to skydive out of the Perris airport in California very near where I lived. It wasn't uncommon to see him or Don Swayze around town, getting gas, etc. When I worked in Perris, they were common visitors to the town and everyone always said how nice they were. I saw him a handful of times myself and never saw him without a huge smile on his face. I think that's how I'll remember him..smiling and laughing with his brother, and getting ready to jump out of an airplane :) -

I'm sorry for your loss EE. There's nothing like a little brother and the love big sisters have for them. Fairy is standing/sitting with you. Love and peace for you and your brothers family.

Don't forget he was in Apocolypse Now. I no longer like DD sorry. I like everyone but Demi in Ghost. Love TALL TALE, Road House. Loved him in North and South. Got to watch it for Extra Credit in 8th grade. Jim Bob from the Waltons was in it too. RIP Patrick. -

I've lost good friends to cancer, including a girlfriend. The ONLY good thing about dying from cancer, rather than a quick heart attack, is that it allows you some time to get your priorities together. Of course, with my girlfriend...damn, she lived in denial until it was too late. She kept on thinking she was going to beat it, even though it was 4 stage breast cancer. Only when it went into her lungs did it dawn on her that she probably was not going to beat it. But, man, WHEN it DID go into her lungs, to the point where she could no longer breathe on her own, without an oxygen tank, man, she was no longer my girlfriend. The horror set in. A week ago I went over to the University that holds her thesis she wrote to get her masters in English. It was next to another Smith with the first name as hers. I went over there specifically to read it. And, for a while there, I thought I had a horrible memory of her as I read through the wrong thesis, thinking that love had really effected memories of her in a major way, until I looked through HERS, finally. I noticed it was dedicated to her parents that she loved. It was kind of a boring read, but, hey, it's her thoughts, created beFORE the age computers could improve writing skills. And, it's the only thing I can find of her that is, well, her only baby. A baby now all old and a bit dusty, ignored by everyone, except me.
