When I was a child, my family did a house exchange in Belgium. Long story short- I was forced to listen to Edith Piaf. My brother and I tried to protest, but her voice is so infectious that by the end of the trip were all singing along. Daaaaaa daaaa DaaaaaaaAAA ....

I can aso understand that Piaf is not necearily everyone's cup of tea - but I've always been hooked by her "R's".
They sound so southern yet she grew up in her early years in a bordel in a small town in Normandy.
