House Dems Were Warned To Brace For Huge 9/12 Tea Party Turnout »
Posted By pc25 4 months, 3 weeks ago in Political NewsA top House Dem leadership aide has emailed a memo to Dem aides on the Hill and outside liberal groups warning they should brace for a turnout of up to two million people, suggesting Dems worry that if enough conservatives descend on the Mall it will amount to a major PR victory for the right.

Despite the media's efforts to downplay the 9/12 turnout the Democrats were warned that attendance at the rally would be extremely large. Doug Thornell, an aide to Chris Van Hollen, warned in the memo that the dust-up over Joe “you lie” Wilson has been invigorating conservatives. “It looks like Saturday’s event is going to be a huge gathering, estimates ranging from hundreds of thousands to 2 million people,

Freshmen and Sophomores:
Some of you have asked about the 9-12 rally Fox News’ Glenn Beck, FreedomWorks and other conservative organizations are organizing for Saturday. As you may know, FreedomWorks held a Capitol Hill demonstration yesterday, that turned into an impromptu rally for embattled Rep. Joe Wilson. Now, based off of news reports and comments from leaders in the Tea Party movement, it looks like Saturday’s event is going to be a huge gathering, estimates ranging from hundreds of thousands to 2 million people. Below is what I have been able to find on crowd estimates. As I learn more, I will let you know.
Best,
Doug

House Dem Leadership Now Managing Expectations for 9/12 Tea Party Protests
Tomorrow, the 9/12 protest will take place in Washington, D.C. An offshoot of the Tax Day Tea Party movement, and hyped by Glenn Beck and conservative activist groups, the turn out promises to be healthy. But Democratic leadership is even more sanguine about the possibilities than organizers: -

in their story, the daily mail never names their source for that ridiculous number. and then they claim that the white house was shocked by the turnout, yet they don't have any reference as to who actually said that or if that was actually said at all.
really shoddy stuff. almost as bad as the rightperspective or the freshconservative. -

A million march to US Capitol to protest against 'Obama the socialist'
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-...
As many as one million people flooded into Washington for a massive rally organised by conservatives claiming that President Obama is driving America towards socialism.
The size of the crowd - by far the biggest protest since the president took office in January - shocked the White House.
Demonstrators massed outside Capitol Hill after marching down Pennsylvania Avenue waving placards and chanting 'Enough, enough'.-

There is one thing perhaps being overlooked in this tea-party crusade. The tea party movement is hardly limited, there is plenty of room for a broader spectrum including Democrats and (some) lefties and all races. This is a movement to cut out the socialism and the abolition of Freedom, which gets us home to the mood of Boston Harbor, doesn't it?

The Europeans must be laughing their rear ends off at Obama. Obama the great, Obama the magnificent, Obama who was going to restore America's image and standing in the world.

......But yesterday, someone told a real whopper. ABC News, citing the DC fire department, reported that between 60,000 and 70,000 people had attended the tea party rally at the Capitol. By the time this figure reached Michelle Malkin, however, it had been blown up to 2,000,000. There is a big difference, obviously, between 70,000 and 2,000,000. That's not a twofold or threefold exaggeration -- it's roughly a thirtyfold exaggeration.
The way this false estimate came into being is relatively simple: Matt Kibbe, the president of FreedomWorks, lied, claiming that ABC News had reported numbers of between 1.0 and 1.5 million when they never did anything of the sort. A few tweets later, the numbers had been exaggerated still further to 2 million. Kibbe wasn't "in error", as Malkin gently puts it. He lied. He did the equivalent of telling people that his penis is 53 inches long.
Malkin, who to her credit later corrected the error, frets that it might be used to by liberals to "discredit the undeniably massive turnout". She's right to be worried -- it absolutely will be used that way. If you don't want to be discredited, then don't, as Kibbe did, tell a ridiculous (and easily disprovable) lie.
Malkin herself did not lie; she merely repeated a lie....
.....This was not a small rally. It was also not, in comparison with something like the 2006 pro-immigration protests, a particularly large rally. It was a business-as-usual sort of rally. Mock the protesters at your peril: business as usual suddenly isn't so good for Democrats these days, and the sentiments of the 70,000 people who marched on Washington surely mirror those of millions more sitting at home. They were done a disservice by being represented by a liar like Kibbe.

the dc traffic cams show the size of the crowds to be comparable in size to the crowd that was at Obama's inauguration. 538 is Nate Silvers site. Silver the Democratic strategist, and analyst who several weeks ago predicted that the DEMS are going to loose 25 to 50 House seats and up to 6 Senate seats in the 2010 elections. An awful lot of spin and damage control going on here. Silver knows damn well the damage the size of the 9/12 pose to the Dems in the 2010 and this is a nothing other than an attempt to limit that damage by denials and out right lies.

Folks, there were Democrats in that protest as well as Republicans and Independents. This is not just against Obama. It is against any congressman or woman who doesn't listen, who want voters to bury their heads in the sand. And as much as so many people blame Beck, there's one thing he says everyone has to agree with. Both Democrats and Republicans in our government today are corrupt, and it's the fact that they think they're untouchable that does it. Term limits!

I'm sure there were some dems there. as well as indies. no doubt. but there is an underlying current happening that can't be igonred. and I'm not saying its everyone. but its there. and its real. if you haven't seen the vidoe of teabaggers being interviewd on 9/12, you should. the undercurrent is palpable, with people saying he's the anti-christ, people hating Obma for no apparent reason when pressed, people who don't even know the policies, etc.

but the question we have is...where were all these people when Bush was spending us into the ground? congressman were just as corrupt during bush, if not more. but no teabaggers.
so you can see why the rest of us, the vast, HUGE majority of us, think this is just hypocritical bullsh*t.
and when it comes to Beck claiming both dems and cons are corrupt, he didn't invent that. people have been saying that for years. lots of people.
like ralph nader.
like noam chomsky.
where were the teabaggers then?
and term limits isn't the key. term limits will just make people want to cash in bigger and quicker sinde they know their time is limited. so the corrupiton level might actually rise.
its about campaign finance reform. its about money. make that disappear, make the lobbyists disappear, and you take away the power of the corporations and give it back to the people, where it belongs.

You know, for every negative video of the protesters, there is a positive. For every hate filled comment there is a kinder one. You can say all you want, but the people in DC weren't just from the tea party, they were from other groups. They were middle America and they are the Majority. And yes, there were a few morons but there are in every group. Unfortunately those are the ones a minority focused on.
