An investigation by Florida authorities has found that there were no credible threats to a teenager who ran away from her Ohio home because she says she feared for her life after converting to Christianity from Islam.
A summary of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigation into Rifqa Bary's allegations was unsealed Monday. The probe found no reports of threats against Bary in Florida or Ohio.

I trust the police on this one.

From the beginning it smelled like a ploy by the girl to be in Florida. If I had to guess, I would say a boyfriend is involved. From one of the articles, the minister was all hugged up with her at the interview.

The family moved all the way here 12,000 miles for her medical treatment. They say she was already proselytizing at the school about her new "religion".

Thing is, she is 17 now. Maybe soon, 18. She doesn't want to be at home or simply would rather be with someone else. I believe she will regret her decision to leave her family latter in life, possible soon, and return to them on her on. Maybe Florida authorities should not force her to return home. She has to live and learn.

The family does not seem to have a strong Islamic background. There is nothing I have seen on the father to signify Islam. She herself does not wear scarf or anything.

Just seems to be the case like so,so,so many others these days after the invention of the internet, of teens running away from home to be with their "loves".

She simply hijacked Islamaphobia and knew that it would be a sure fire way to get attention and almost guarantee full support. Its just sad that she sacrificed her family in doing so.

Beyond support, she got unquestioned blind support.

I am glad that the police were not blinded.

As I am sure, they get cases like this probably on a daily basis. Only that in this one, the little girl didn't cry "wolf" or "abuse", she cried "Islam".

I don't understand the legal implications here.
A 17 year old is not allowed to leave home in the US if s/he wishes?
So what is the age of consent, for example - or the legal age for marriage without parental consent?

What if the girl is not crying wolf, soon she will be eighteen and have a say as to her life, sometimes the law can be a double edge sword, why not let her stay in a foster home till she is of age !

The "religious" side has the advantage in this situation. The "parental" side takes a back row position as far as public opinion and influence.
With that, the police arent going to make any foolish moves, neither the state governments. However, they were honest enought to seemingly give a fair report. I am sure they interviewed neighbors, teachers, doctors, friends, co-workers and students in this case.
The eys of the nation are on the girl, the family and the authorities. I wonder why much else isn't being said about this ministry. Who in America is questioning their intention? They keep her for 2 weeks without notifying authorities? They had to look at computer and phone records to find her? What would happen to you if you did the same at your home?

Keep her til she is 18 and cut her loose and let her fend for herself.
