I trust the police on this one.

From the beginning it smelled like a ploy by the girl to be in Florida. If I had to guess, I would say a boyfriend is involved. From one of the articles, the minister was all hugged up with her at the interview.
The family moved all the way here 12,000 miles for her medical treatment. They say she was already proselytizing at the school about her new "religion".
Thing is, she is 17 now. Maybe soon, 18. She doesn't want to be at home or simply would rather be with someone else. I believe she will regret her decision to leave her family latter in life, possible soon, and return to them on her on. Maybe Florida authorities should not force her to return home. She has to live and learn.
The family does not seem to have a strong Islamic background. There is nothing I have seen on the father to signify Islam. She herself does not wear scarf or anything.
Just seems to be the case like so,so,so many others these days after the invention of the internet, of teens running away from home to be with their "loves".
She simply hijacked Islamaphobia and knew that it would be a sure fire way to get attention and almost guarantee full support. Its just sad that she sacrificed her family in doing so. -

Beyond support, she got unquestioned blind support.

I am glad that the police were not blinded.
As I am sure, they get cases like this probably on a daily basis. Only that in this one, the little girl didn't cry "wolf" or "abuse", she cried "Islam". -

It is statutory, it varies from state to state. The average age of sexual consent in America is 16. Legal consent varies from 18-21. They must decide if this girl will leave again if they return her and possibly label her a troubled teen. Which would mean she would be placed under state custody until she is (probably) 18 in either Florida or Ohio.

I would guess now the main talk is about which state is responsible for her. It probably will be Ohio. This is where she is registered. She probably can't legally register in Florida without that parental consent.
My guess, they will send to to Ohio to an undisclosed foster home until she is 18, then turn her out the door. Unless her birthday is soon and Florida turns her out.
In any sense, she will at some point return to her family or to that ministry. Probably the ministry first until they a finished using her and then she will crawl back to her family or out of embarrassment, she will not go back to the family, maybe not finish school and become the governments responsibility. I am not even sure if she is an American citizen.

The "religious" side has the advantage in this situation. The "parental" side takes a back row position as far as public opinion and influence.

With that, the police arent going to make any foolish moves, neither the state governments. However, they were honest enought to seemingly give a fair report. I am sure they interviewed neighbors, teachers, doctors, friends, co-workers and students in this case.
The eys of the nation are on the girl, the family and the authorities. I wonder why much else isn't being said about this ministry. Who in America is questioning their intention? They keep her for 2 weeks without notifying authorities? They had to look at computer and phone records to find her? What would happen to you if you did the same at your home?
Keep her til she is 18 and cut her loose and let her fend for herself.
