Didn't Obama say that he wouldn't raise taxes on any family earning less than $250,000? How can this be?
Oh, I get it - a carbon tax isn't an income tax - even though it in effect reduces your earned income.
I can't believe that CBS is reporting on this. Things will really get bad for Obama if the press reported on his adminsitration through the lens of objectivity rather than adoration.-

What a steamy pile you have laid here.

If any of you ever did any research you would understand that the concept of cap and trade has partial roots on the Right.

In fact McCain had his own proposal ready. But of course everything is simplistic isn't it? Even your confusion over why CBS would report this.
Rather we should just ignore future energy issues and costs as well as the future of our environment. We can simply continue to spew endless amounts of carbon and other pollutants into the atmosphere with no resulting effect, right?

The only fair Income Tax is a flat tax, and even that is morally objectionable.

Cap'nTrade will hurt most the poor who can least afford it. So Obama and his mafia have lied again, since they repeatedly say they want to screw the rich. They are lying to the poor they pretend to pity.
The actual truth is that they are scrambling in every possible way to raise taxes to cover the next decade of budget deficits, which will nearly double the already impossible national debt.
Before the Collectivists are done with all this, Gov will be stealing the entire GNP. There is no possible way that can work out well.-

I am not sure that it is morally objectionable. I think every citizen should contribute equally, especially if equality is the standard and goal of our society.

If you make $20 a year, you pay x% of that amount. If you make $1,000,000,000 a year, you pay x%. No deductions.
The draw back of this is that many in the small business world will pay more, but even though I am a small business owner, it still represents equality to me.
It will put a lot of high priced accountants and lawyers out of work.
One of the issues with cap and trade is that the costs will be passed down to the consumer. A company or industry could collectively decide to pay to continue on the energy path they currently are pursuing and just pass the fines down to the consumer. That is a huge loophole that has been left open.

Please. NO, NO, NO to paying taxes. If the government was reduced to its Constitutional delegations of power, there would be no need for income taxes, sales taxes, any taxes.

We didn't have any of these taxes until the 20th century. -

And to think, individuals in government are allowed just compensation, but for what? Tax ends as subjection especially to women and children. All here upon Earth are subjected to a degree, but it appears there are those appointed by us...that not only abuse the tax, but somehow waste the tax.

Washington has been in the business of taxation for hundreds of years...and have denied the public the return. I'll not be fooled by the sudden rush to appease the public. As they still hold what we and our parents paid for...and still are headed the same direction...statured above us. Recieving more...accomplishing less, yet benefiting everything we do. -

In the first place this is a blog, not news. In the second place this is old news. The amount is correct but the amount to be paid by families is incorrect because corporations and other businesses were not included in the calculations of per person responsibilities. This article like many posted by conservative members of propeller is nothing more than a red herring, opinion not fact and misleading or fabricated information.

The problem with your statement is that families end up paying the costs after "corporations and other businesses" pass the additional expenses along in higher prices.

You'll have to come up with a better, more rational, excuse than this.

You are correct. I work in the power world and we're pretty sure the actual cost is several times that. But Obama's minions feel that the power companies will simply pay this forgetting all costs are passed on to the consumers. Then again, if you look at most of Obama's friends, they "forget" to pay their taxes, so they probably don't pay many of their bills either....

Some people won't have even that much "extra cash" to pay the utility bills. What might happen is families will do like my father did circa 1920. Only heat the kitchen in winter, close the doors to the other rooms, wear three or four layers of clothing, don't bathe except on Saturday night, eat meat only on Sundays, and so on.

It isn't about saving the Earth. It's an anti-industrial revolution, it's hatred of technology, it's anti-mind and worship of the primitive. And above all, it's power-lust to create an elite to rule and control everyone.
