"The Obama administration has privately concluded that a cap and trade law would cost American taxpayers up to $200 billion a year, the equivalent of hiking personal income taxes by about 15 percent."

Didn't Obama say that he wouldn't raise taxes on any family earning less than $250,000? How can this be?

Oh, I get it - a carbon tax isn't an income tax - even though it in effect reduces your earned income.

I can't believe that CBS is reporting on this. Things will really get bad for Obama if the press reported on his adminsitration through the lens of objectivity rather than adoration.

The only fair Income Tax is a flat tax, and even that is morally objectionable.

Cap'nTrade will hurt most the poor who can least afford it. So Obama and his mafia have lied again, since they repeatedly say they want to screw the rich. They are lying to the poor they pretend to pity.

The actual truth is that they are scrambling in every possible way to raise taxes to cover the next decade of budget deficits, which will nearly double the already impossible national debt.

Before the Collectivists are done with all this, Gov will be stealing the entire GNP. There is no possible way that can work out well.

And to think, individuals in government are allowed just compensation, but for what? Tax ends as subjection especially to women and children. All here upon Earth are subjected to a degree, but it appears there are those appointed by us...that not only abuse the tax, but somehow waste the tax.
Washington has been in the business of taxation for hundreds of years...and have denied the public the return. I'll not be fooled by the sudden rush to appease the public. As they still hold what we and our parents paid for...and still are headed the same direction...statured above us. Recieving more...accomplishing less, yet benefiting everything we do.

In the first place this is a blog, not news. In the second place this is old news. The amount is correct but the amount to be paid by families is incorrect because corporations and other businesses were not included in the calculations of per person responsibilities. This article like many posted by conservative members of propeller is nothing more than a red herring, opinion not fact and misleading or fabricated information.

Whatever the number is, it makes our companies far less competitive in world markets, will drive business out of country and will further drain family's dwindling income.

I figured that "cap and trade" would provide an impetus to drive the development of new technologies and alternate fuels.

            But I'm not a knee-jerk reactionary... They're sooo predictable.

$1,761 is a conservative estimate, I guarantee it.

I see there are some who are still holding on to the lie that this bill will only cost $150 per household.

Face it, Obots, Obama lied and you bought it. Thankfully the bill was stalled in time.

Reading this I wondered, when will we see the "Obama lied, people died " after some either freeze to death or die of heat stroke?

i was pumping gas the other day and read an advertisement at the pump that said:

"gas will go up 80 cents a gallon if cap and trade passes."

i was hoping it was false. but, now i digress...

Are politicians overpaid??????????? We, the public, elect (employ) them. Thus, shouldn't we vote on their salaries?
