Teabaggers Now Protesting To Increase Socialized Transit »
Posted By Aidenag 4 months, 3 weeks ago in Political NewsProtesters who attended Saturday’s Tea Party rally in Washington found a new reason to be upset: Apparently they are unhappy with the level of service provided by the subway system. These must be the same morons who keep yelling that they want the government to keep its hands off of Medicare...

I really am at a loss for words. A protest filled with a bunch of idiots crying about how we are becoming a socialist country. Now are protesting about how we need to improve our socialized mass transit because some seniors on medicare had to pay a privatized capitalist company to transport them to the location of their anti socialism, pro capitalist protest...

Maybe they should all think twice before going to the "big city" next time...make better travel plans, try to understand mass transit, etc...
Next time each should bring someone to "hold their hands" while traveling... -

Why do you and others have to use the obscene reference to the tea party movement? This is a big problem that liberals have. The nasty put downs of others and the insistence that they are ignorant, evil, stupid, led by the nose, etc. All that rhetoric does is to anger those people. The article and you ignore the fact that people do not ride for free on the subway. It is a paid for service. I used it years ago and it was not cheap back then. The only elderly people mentioned was a single 80 year old lady and some disabled vets. Yet you make the assumption that everyone was elderly. Having used the sstem I remember is only works well for those able to act quickly. Doors open and a rush comes out and then another rush going in. Doors close and on to the next stop. Better be ready to get off at your stop as well.

"Brady says in his letter to Metro that overcrowding forced an 80-year-old woman and elderly veterans in wheelchairs to pay for cabs."
I guess some of the healthier and better off protesters didn't want to give up their seats for elderly women or wheelchair bound veterans. -

I'd like to know which municipal authorities they contacted to REQUEST additional tranport, policing, emergency services on duty - and why they aren't talking to those responsible..
My guess is they did nothing of the sort because if they had done that they wouldn't be able to blame Obama PERSONALLY. -

Well, I'm right-wing, and I have to say, you have had every opportunity, including this last Presidential election, which you won, to utilyze the same rights we American people are using right now.
Reply
So don't be upset when the American people use the same venue, protesting, blogs, propeller.com, and so on, to express their views the same way you do.
I'd say you got what you wanted that time. This time the pendulum has moved in the opposite direction. And you do not like it.

I find it offensive that you libs continue to use the term teabaggers. Where the F do you get off using that term?!? You are supposed to be the ones who are accepting of all people, no matter the color of their skin. No matter their nationality or religion, everyone should be treated the same. So, WTF?!? I guess if I were to use a certain N word to describe a person of color with you, would that be OK? Absolutely not! I would tagged a racist. If I were to refer to a muslim with a turbin as a certain T head, would that be OK? Absolutely not! I would be tagged a hypocritical and intolerant WASP.

You guys have an ugly double standard. It is growing really old, too. Not only is your label of teabagger disgusting, it is childish and un-patriotic. The history in this country with the Boston Teaparty is one that should be held in higher accord than to just slag it along with the Conservative movement. But, then I guess that most libs don't hold our history in too high of regard.
I would imagine that if the protest were one being driven for a left-wing purpose, the DC Metro system would have added trains and overall capacity. The transit worker's union would have gone out of their way to accomodate the larger crowds. Prove to me that they would not have.
You libs know that you are starting to see your side slide. So, keep on kicking and screaming like the immature maroons that you are. Go ahead and spend more than you earn. That's what got us all in this trouble in the first place. See where this gets you in a few years.-

dBergeron,
The name-calling they use makes me happy, not offended, because it dimishes their attempt to call people like Joe Wilson a racist whenever they disagree with these ridiculous and silly policies from the Obama administration.
Whenever they start with the racist chanting, I pull their anti-gay quotes up against them.
Try it, sometime. You'll see its extremely effective :) -

Where the F do you get off using that term?!?<<< Fox News was first to use that term in reference to rightwing idiots protesting against American democracy aka the election of President Obama.. Fox has claimed they weren't aware of the slang meaning of the term. Uh huh. Right. Freudian slips are excellent.

Do you also find it offensive when we call you dBergeron?
After all, that's the name you picked for yourself, just like "teabaggers" was the name the protesters picked for themselves.
Just curious. Seems odd that you would give yourself a name then be offended when people call you by that naem.

It used to be but as we all know, only government knows how to run things..... AFDC, Welfare, Social Security, the VA, Post Office, FEMA, IRS, ICE, CIA, Army Corp of Engineers, do I need to go further????
Reply
Not to say having everything private would answer everything, but having profit as the motivator generally improves service and competition. But again, most people here are more worried about how evil the customers are instead of asking why the service was so p1$$-poor. Then again, that's why they were protesting. Over priced, over taxed, under served by the government. -

You have people depending upon a heavily subsidized government system complaining about terrible service. And you complain about the customers? What happened to customer service? I think that's the problem with most government employees and government services. They forget they are not only our employees but they're supposed to serve us.
Reply
If this were United Airlines, Northwest, or Greyhound Bus, you lefties would be all over them. But since this was a mass transit service controlled by unions, it's the "evil" conservative customers who pay them, they want to be made the bad guys.-

At peak times, it is expected that a large percentage of the riders stand. The trains are built for this. This is a matter of balancing the level of the service with its cost, not a sign of "government ineptitude".
Reply
Usually able-bodied people are willing to help those with strollers or those who need help, and usually able-bodied people are willing to give up their seats so that the infirm can sit. Perhaps the able-bodies citizens who were riding to this protest were not as polite as the usual riders?

Is this really the poster child you want? Apparently DC mass transit can not handle the traffic. Government run DC mass transit... Is insufficient for the users... Notice the problem, yet? How about we substitute "health insurance". Government run [health insurance] [will be] insufficient for the users.
Reply
While I agree it's a bizarre complaint, your using it is equally as bizzare and poorly thought out. -

It never occured to any of these protesters, while planning to take part in a march they expected to be huge, that it might be huge? It's not the responsibility of a public transit authority to handle either 70,000 or 2,000,000 tourists who all pick the same time to ride the train. The subway was (and SHOULD have been) planned for an ordinary number of DC locals and tourists. I'm not going to shed a single tear for anyone who can find the money to travel from Texas to the east coast and then balk at cab fare.

To stage a march, protest or any other activity, you must file permits. Nice try to blame the protesters, it's much easier than actually dealing with a public relations problem. Because the nation's capital like tourism, this gives a major black eye. Then again, when does government ever understand the operations of a business. They're government employees. The same government that brings you the Social Security Office, Post Office, IRS, Homeland Security and other highly paid, poorly trained public servants.

But again, DC conventions brags about the transit system. So either they lied or the DC transit did this on purpose to slow down conservatives. Where's the customer service? Who is responsible? -
