What Beck, Dobbs and Limbaugh Are Really Afraid Of »
Posted By ameliog 2 months, 2 weeks ago in Political OpinionCan you smell the fear? Switch on cable news or tune in to talk radio and it comes wafting in.
Fox News Channel's Glenn Beck has bottled his own scent. Lou Dobbs' fear gives off a distinct undertone of racial intolerance. And Rush Limbaugh takes to the air to spread an odor that's designed to make Americans angry at, well, other Americans.
It's a fear that's laced with paranoia, stoked by misinformation and prejudice and fed to millions of people via powerful media. But most of all, it's a fear of the changes that an overwhelming majority of Americans called for when they stepped into voting booths last November.

The restoral of the Fairness Doctrine would neutralize the right-wing bias currently in favor in the broadcasting industry.

Regulating media content, including news reporting, is
precisely what some members of Congress are now proposing as
a way to "restore fairness in broadcasting" and counteract the
"proliferation of highly partisan networks, news outlets, and
ownership groups." The centerpiece of their campaign, featured in a House bill, is the resurrection of the Fairness Doctrine and the Federal Communications Commission policy.
The Fairness Doctrine had two basic elements: It required broadcasters to devote some of their airtime to discussing controversial matters of public interest, and to air contrasting views regarding those matters. Stations were given wide latitude as to how to provide contrasting views: It could be done through news segments, public affairs shows or editorials.
Formally adopted as an FCC rule in 1949 and repealed in 1987 by Ronald Reagan’s pro-broadcaster FCC, the doctrine can be traced back to the early days of broadcast regulation.-

Listen to the libs rant about why their shows do not get aired. They ignore the simple fact that it is driven by the ratings. The higher the rating and the more money the stations can charge for commercials in that air time. What the liberals hate is the fact that their ideas are rejected by the radio listening audience as a whole. There are some liberal wing talk show hosts but they are more local to very liberal areas. So since the very largest share of the listening public is conservative the liberals want to shut down the conservative talk show hosts. The radio stations will not be able to get enough revenue for the liberal shows they would be forced to put on so they would drop the format like a hot potato. Probably what the liberals want. They can't stand the competition I guess.

The biggest problem with liberals is they consider anything conservative as evil, hateful. etc. It is easily seen in this very biased story with the adjectives and adverbs use throughout the story.
"It's a fear that's laced with paranoia, stoked by misinformation and prejudice and fed to millions of people via powerful media."
""Lou Dobbs stated falsely"
"The cloud of media hysteria"
"nightly paranoia"
"they couch in populist rhetoric a message that, in its very essence, is anti-populist -- designed to protect the swindle at the core of our media system's failure."
These things the liberals think is just plain truth but if a conservative said anything like this about them they would go ballistic. Why are the liberals so filled with hate?

If it does at least what it did before Reagan killed it, only cons need to be worried. We know how much cons love to think they're special and don't have to play by the same rules as everyone else. We saw that just a year ago during the VP debate. Sarah Palin's favorite song is My Way.

I don't think these guys are afraid of anything. Any publicity, good or bad, brings attention.

There will alyays be people who want to be told what they want to hear and who get angry at facts and logic. And there will always be special interests who support these guys.-

Wow, what the hell is this? I thought I was on AOL, you morons sound like the Daily Kos or some other moronic liberal hate site!

Oh that's right, this article is linked to the Huffington Post, that paragon of virtue. NOT!
You stupid liberals always want to shut down others free speech. You cannot compete in the marketplace of ideas, so you mustn't let the other side be heard.
The reason why Rush Limbaugh has 20 million listeners, and is the king of radio is no secret. He is intelligent, and has ideas people agree with, and yes, is a joy to listen to.
You turn on lib radio, and all you hear is idiots spewing incredible hate and vitriol. But ZERO ideas. No one wants to listen to that BS, not even other liberals!
There ARE liberals that have a brain, not many, but a few. Put them on the radio and someone might listen.
Camile Paglia, a REAL liberal, not a "progressive" dirt bag communist like we see out there now, has a huge readership. Conservatives read her ever week. LOTS of Conservatives.
You know why? She has IDEAS!
You losers can't compete, so you want government to FORCE people to only hear your message. Hitler, Stalin, Castro, and Chavez work this way.
No party in American history so resembles the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (National Socialist Germans Workers Party, NAZI for short) as does the modern democrat/communist party.
Your president, like Hitler has even sent out his union thugs to attack people at town halls! ACORN and SEIU are the same people, founded by brothers, and ran out of the same offices.
ACORN will be Obama's downfall though. He IS ACORN.
Come up with some ideas people actually WANT to hear, and guess what, you'll get an audience!
As long as liberalism is what it is, and insane fringe movement full on insane fringe ideas, no one will care.
From the latest Rasmussen Report:
"Progressive" is becoming more of a dirty word, but all political labels – except "being like Ronald Reagan" - are falling into disfavor with many U.S. voters, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.
"Liberal" is still the worst and remains the only political description that is viewed more negatively than positively. Being like Reagan is still the most positive thing you can say about a candidate.

Hahahahaha
Ronnie Raygun's Administration was the begining of the pseudo-conservative movement in this country. We are still feeling the reverberations of their (well Bush 1) corruption. He was a criminal whose legacy will be eroded down to its true stature in time.
