Obama's Election Clearly Doesn't Mark the Beginning of a 'Post-Racial' Society »
Posted By Tumultuous 2 months, 4 weeks ago in Political OpinionWith the nation’s first black president in the White House, some pundits have started employing the narrative of a “post-racial” America to frame events. In this view, Barack Obama’s election has leveled the playing field and obviated the struggle for racial equality. In many ways Obama has played along, scrupulously avoiding comment on racial matters since he began his presidential campaign.

How can it be a post-racial society when moron liberals like Carter and Olbermann keep playing the race card. The only thing they accomplish w/this to perpetuate more hate. The only difference is I hate them for doing it. And Bill Cosby? My opinion of him was improving until he went and said it also. How sad.

Carter who is throwing the racial charge around is the epitome of a racist who tries to keep it under wraps. Before his election the church he attended and was a Deacon in did not allow blacks to attend the church. He had that changed only after it became public during the election campaign. Then last year in an interview with Lehrer he referred to Obama as "that boy". That is typical talk of the southern racial haters. Then this man has the gall to accuse anybody that disagrees with Obama as a racist.

The mere fact that Obama wan the way he did with the admiration of so many means nothing. The fact that he has had poll numbers dropping faster than anyone elected president after pool came into play is because of his promises broken, programs he has and is currently pushing and the huge deficit he has run up and wants to increase. Open and transparent, bipartisanship, special site where bills in congress can be posted and comments made about them, not signing any bill with earmarks, etc.
The grass roots movement cuts across the racial, political, and religious lines. These people attacked their congress people at the town hall meetings. Some of those meetings were by invitation only for Democrats. All of them were attacked by their constituents for this health care boondoggle bills in congress. The attempt by the MSM and the liberals to trivialize them by using the fringe people who are in any movement just makes these people even angrier. The MSM and liberals try to make out it is just a few fringe people led by conservative nutcases adds gas to the fire. They understand what they are being lied about. That makes the polls drop even more.-

Come, come endo. Gien your comments here, you seem to belong to the core group that has been promoting hatred and racism in America (and elsewhere) for a long time now. You have already brought down the GOP and would apparently now like to take the rest of the country with you down the tubes.

Republican Disaster -- The Evangelical/Zionist Anatomy of Meltdown
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/frank-schaeffer/repu...
I was a Republican insider. For instance, the late Jack Kemp was a friend who I often advised on "connecting" with the Religious Right, until I left the Republican Party and the evangelical subculture and slammed the door behind me. ....
...Talk about a self-fulfilling prophecy of doom -- in the 1970s my family was an integral part of bringing the Republican Party under the sway of the emerging Religious Right, particularly because of our support of the antiabortion movement. It was my father who talked Jerry Falwell into "taking a stand" on the "moral issues" of the day, which then morphed into the Moral Majority. Back in the 70s and early 80s Dad and I both appeared on the 700 Club many times, I preached from Jerry Falwell's pulpit and was the keynote speaker at the Religious Broadcasters and Christian Booksellers Association annual events several years running.
There came a day in 1985 (my dad had died in 1984) that I began to take another look at my commitment to the both the far right of Republican Party and the Religious Right. I came to realize that I was in bed with a group of people who were profoundly anti-American. They were professional haters. They wrapped themselves in the flag and "loved America," but it was an America in their imaginations only and cast in their image: white, middle-class, straight, born-again, homophobic and tinged with racism, not to mention misogyny.
...So what went wrong with the Republican Party? Believe me, it's all about religion!
Two religions (in the broadest sense of the term) have destroyed the Republican Party: evangelical Christianity and Christian/Jewish Zionism. Evangelical Christianity created the Religious Right which forever linked the Republican Party to the antiabortion, anti-sex education, anti-evolution and anti-gay crusades. And both Christian and Jewish Zionism linked the Republican Party to what became the neoconservative movement with its roots in such publications as Commentary magazine and their shrill Israel-can-do-no-wrong anti-Arab agenda. (I knew the late editor of Commentary Norman Podhoretz quite well, and we met several times to build alliances between evangelicals and the far American Zionist far right. When it came to Arabs, I believe he was a real racist.) -

... I would not call Zionism per se a religion, but I'm talking about secular goals pursued with religious fervor. I would call Zionism, American-style a politicized version of a religion. I also argue that the neo-con side got traction when religious Jews became Zionists and when religious Christians (evangelicals) hopped aboard to hasten the "Rapture." And I'd like to point out that American Zionists ally themselves with the Israeli hardliners, but that opinion in Israel is much more diverse and often tolerant than that, as is opinion among Jewish Americans, who do not by and large accept the AIPAC point of view uncritically.
...So what did the Republicans become? They are the party of unnecessary wars both actual and cultural and the party of the rich -- those who never serve in the military, just put up flags to "support the troops." The actual war in Iraq was (as everyone knew with a wink and a nod, but few dared say) really about our commitment to Christian and Jewish Zionism as it was "understood" by the born-again fool Bush. The culture war is also an unnecessary and unmitigated war that pitted the "real America" (in other words white mostly uneducated, lower-middle-class evangelical/Catholic working Americans) against everyone else.
...The choice for America has always been between inclusive pluralism and exclusion. The kind of religion and Evangelical/Zionist/neoconservative cabal used to take over the interests of the Republican Party is just too small for this big diverse, tolerant and open country of ours. So the Republicans have a choice: become an American political party again serving American interests or continue to serve the narrowly defined religious interests of two angry and fearful Jewish/Evangelical minorities who are themselves bastardized offshoots of their Christian and Jewish traditions. -

Deficit and big government you argue when its stimulus that will pull us out of the Depression! Dumya and repugs gave us triple defict in the 1980 and the ceiling to 11 trillion as well as the largest increase in government ( homeland security as a result of Dumya ignoring th ewatrnings of 911)! No wonder you fools let dumya demonstrate so much incompetent government so you can argue we don't need big government!
You really are an un-American, aren't you endo?

Obama's election was probably more about Americans wanting a change in government in spite of his race. Obama had the right message during his campaign for president but it was also the first overt display of racism shown by his opponents and their supporters.

And within the extreme right, racism is part of their character which is so difficult to nullify.-

The strongholds of racism are readily evident in the history of the Democrat party, which is the party of "Mr. KKK" Nathan Bedford Forrest, "Bull" Connor, , Governors Lester Maddox, Orville Faubus and George Wallace, Senator William Fullbright (the object of ill Clinton's admiration), former KKK leader Robert Byrd, ad nauseum.....
Frances Rice, noted Black Political leader states that "the Democrat Party is the architect of modern-day racism."
The Democrat party was absolutely dominant in the pre-Civil Rights Movement, sadly segregated South. The vast majority of the opposition in Washington to Civil Rights Legislation came from Democrats. The Good 'Ol Boys surrendered only after their defeat became obvious.
Then, the Democrats made a valiant effort to "re-invent themselves" after the Southern Democrat literal deathgrip on political power collapsed. The Democrats had to fight hard to nullify their racism. To date, they have mostly succeeded, although today the Democrats still oppose "school choice" opportunity scholarships because they value their relationship with the teachers' unions over the welfare of inner-city students. They similarly still oppose the No Child Left Behind program, that raised the reading scores of Black students, but is reviled by (guess who???)---- the teachers' unions.
The Republican Party was founded in 1854 as the anti-slavery party. It is the party of Abraham Lincoln. It is the party of Dwight Eisenhower, who sent troops into the (Democrat-controlled) South to desegregate the schools there, and who appointed Earl Warren to the SCOTUS, resulting in the Brown vs. Board of Education decision.
"It is the party of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr." Yes, THE Dr. King! I didn't say make that up-- I'm quoting Frances Rice.
On a related topic, the other notable vestige of racism still exists in the Democrat-dominated world of the Professional Race-Baiters, epitomized by figures such as The Rev. Jesse, The Rev. Al and The Rev. Jeremiah. Numerous well-known Black laymen such as Maxine Waters, Cynthia McKinney, Sheila Jackson Lee, Charlie ("I forgot to report everything") Rangel, David Dingell and others are also still singing that same old, worn-out song.
So, you see, you are exactly WRONG, C!!!!!!

What hogwash!!!
What selective memory!!!
A more accurate sentence would be: "In many ways, Obama has continued playing the same old song, throwing out the race card willingly, while inserting his foot firmly in his mouth, such as in the 'Skippy Gates' fiasco."
Perhaps someone should tell BHO that he's no longer a community organizer, involved in "the struggle," but is now the POTUS, and in theory, at least, the servant (not "Der Lider") of ALL THE PEOPLE!!!!!-

Here's another POS who has never really listened to Obama and certainly did not understand his Reverend Wright speech which was one of the most important speeches of race in recent times.

You throw out this kind of garbage your credibility should be nil. Even I admitted Obama screwed up the Gates case but that was because Gates was a personal friend. He knows that was a rash statement he made initially. Ask Officer Crowley if he has any issues beyond that. Not that I am aware of..nor are you unless you have had some sort of private conversation with the man.
Anyone who thinks Barack Obama has any relation to Adolf Hitler, or his idealogy, is completely insane! There is no other word for it. And don't even try to weasel out of the fact that is what you are insinuating. -

Oh, and he has tried to get input from all the people, but the repugs only say "NO" and offer only fear-mongering which you sure have fallen victim to!

gotta love how the cons are spinning, saying carter played the race card when in reality he's reacting to the race bard being played.
Reply
you cons can deny it all you want (you're sticking with your strengths. denial is what your good at) but that won't change what the reat of us are seeing out there (birthers? totally racist. teabaggers? some racist elements. people who won't let their kid listen to Obama's back to school pep talk? racist) and won't change the ever-increasing perception that the GOP is a group that welcomes racists and their dogma among their ranks. -

What is it with people who so ignore reality ( or rewrite it) to justify their bigotry? They are not true to themselves at all... and waiting to see Saint Peter to find out how un-American they are only hurts America now!
Reply
Part of their delusion as born again christians is that they continue to deny reality and still be reborn and forgiven again !
At least Lee Atwater (Rove's teacher) tried to apologize for all his lies and deceptions in this world on his deathbed! -

Why should racism end? Politicians love racism. It gets them votes and money. It also charges people up emotionally and allows for politicians to get legislation passed.
Reply
Fortunately, people are starting to realize this. Once this realization becomes wide-spread, the race card will become useless. -
