Peter Leeson: Somalia Better off Stateless (pdf) »
Posted By Striker101 3 months, 2 weeks ago in Political NewsAfter some months of hunting, this is absolutely the best description and analysis of the Somalian government situation from 1970 when their democracy was usurped by Barre who turned it into a totalitarian socialist state, finally overthrown by the people in 1991.
This is a long and thorough history, as opposed to a campaign or ranting. Somalia's is about the world's only example of anarchy, and it's progress since choosing to continue without government will rather amaze you. Despite being still a poor "non-country" it is making far more progress than the USA under it's growing collectivism which has ground it's economy into collapse.

This document will take up to an hour to read, and well worth your time. It includes good statistics and graphs, and sufficient detail to provide a very useful history lesson.

I've not read the entire article, but have read enough of it to know I will return and read all of it.

Very surprising to me was this: If a state is highly predatory and its behavior goes unchecked, government may not only fail to add to social welfare, but may actually reduce
welfare below its level under anarchy.2 I show that this was the case with Somalia’s government,
which did more harm to its citizens than good. The government’s collapse and substitution with
statelessness subsequently opened the possibility for progress."
In my opinion, our government officials for the past 70 years have driven the US to this point. This particular President is pushing especially hard. It may work to Americans' advantage.
