Poland calls Obama's missile defense announcement treason »
Posted By RTHTGakaRoland 3 months, 1 week ago in NewsWow, pretty strong words here. Translated from their site:
Strategic ally? Mainstay of our security? End of illusions. United States of America, for which we have for each call, turned his back to us. U.S. President lightly tossed into the trash construction project in Poland and the Czech anti-missile shield. The massive military installation was to give special meaning to us in NATO and to strengthen our position towards Russia. But America, instead of Warsaw, he prefers dogadaæ with Moscow. Yesterday the whole world went round decision Barack Obama (48 l.). Kremlin triumphs, and the Poles have been exposed to the wind.
They go on to mention the symbolic date on which the announcement was made. September 17th, which is the anniversary of when the Sovient Union invaded Poland. How nice.

Some Foreign Affairs commentators speak and write of the "Obama Doctrine":
Reply
Treat enemies as allies and allies as enemies.
The reasoning underpinning this doctrine, if any, must be truly bizarre.
So bizarre that Ockham's Razor leads me to the more direct conclusion that obama's and America's lists of allies and enemies substantially differ. -

"Maybe nobody has told these fools just who our allies happen to be. What a boneheaded thing to do."

No. Check the news this morning. Russia has said that because of this 'boneheaded thing' Obama did they will no longer put missiles along the border with Poland.
Sorry it didn't work out for you hate-Obama-no-matter-what people.

Does anyone know if this system ever had a chance of working? The few tests that were done over the Pacific worked in some cases bacause they targeted a head on collision. In other words we knew exactly the trajectory and velocity of the oncoming missle and could launch directly at it. If the defensive missle were not already positioned in a direct line with the target it has never worked, and probably would not have worked. That's part of the reason Reagan supported a plan using lasers.

It didn't. Look at the test results for real-world tests. They couldn't even hit 1 in 15. All the 'successful' tests were completely controlled with the shield-missile being told exactly where the other missile was going, not based on radar/computer tracking.

I have a feeling that if these two countries are upset about anything in this case, it's not about the loss of the shield itself but the loss of the massive amount of American dollars that won't be coming to their country now. Big American bases mean jobs for the locals.

I propped you up because you are probably right, but I feel no happiness about this because I fear where that same money will go NOW. If it goes to countries who are idiotically forgiving and tolerant of terrorists, there will be hell to pay in this country. We have invested quite a lot of money and energy in Poland and its independence. Hate to see that also go down the toilet.
