Boehner Admits That Obama Is Not A Socialist »

Posted By TechnologyExpert 3 months ago in Political News

Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele sent out a recent fundraising letter claiming the Democrats are aiming for a "socialist power grab," trying the the familiar GOP scare tactics (many Americans do not understand what socialism really is, or how it differs from communism, and also equate it to becoming a new U.S.S.R.). Today on NBC's "Meet the Press," House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) was blunted asked about his opinion of such rhetoric, to which he had to admit, Barack Obama is not a socialist.

It may seem as though it is common sense, but IMHO it says and I think proves that there is no UNITY in the GOP. MIXED MESSAGES!

"GREGORY: That’s fine. Do you think the President is a socialist? Because that’s what ...

    BOEHNER: No.

GREGORY: Okay. Because the head of the Republican Party is calling it that.

BOEHNER: Listen, I didn’t call it that, and I’m not going to call it that. "

To some extent everyone in politics is socialist. Is there a single politician out there who doesn't vote to bring government programs into his/her state or district in order to promote their next campaign?

I think that some of these Republicans are starting to wise up to how stupid they look. That party needs to come back to sanity if they want to survive.

Obama is quite comfortable with the established American practice of socialism for the rich and laissez faire for the rest of us.

The good old socialism that Karl Marx espoused would provide a safety net for everyone. But we bailed out the mortgage lenders while letting record numbers of working people lose their homes.

The "New Deal" sort of socialism would have put people to work at government jobs repairing infrastructure in hard economic times. But we gave money to big corporations instead and got ourselves a "jobless recovery."

When people got up on their hind legs and protested the dirty dealing and outrages perpetrated by private insurance, an old-school socialist might have contemplated a single-payor plan or even a plan of the British model. But not our prez - his plan is to preserve the system that the public is so unhappy with, to coerce participation in that system, and subsidize us WITH OUR OWN TAX DOLLARS if we cannot afford to do so.

That's socialism in support of the rich. I don't much like it. I wish Obama would practice that good old socialism that serves the working people.

using the term "socialism" is just effective politics but yes, to be more precise the GOP should state that the Dems are driving "Social Democratic policies"

As I have said before, this is all typical TAG YOUR IT, politics. Obama is what the New World Order calls a Modern Progressive. The words Socialist or Communist are scare tactic buzz words that the modern left has mostly discarded. The propaganda chiefs are engaged in a war of words but the old motives are the same. Obama acts like a socialist, believes like a communist and governs like a progressive. Progressives don't like traditional America or the so called American dream. They see a world dominated by one government using the principles of communism, the propaganda of socialism and the tactics of Big Brother. Call comrade Obama anything you like but he is anything but an American patriot.

Has anyone considered for a moment that our political system even exists anymore? Perhaps it’s nothing more than a great fraud being perpetrated on the American people. The good old guys and gals in DC do a great job separating themselves from the day to day frustrations / struggles of normal everyday Americans. They get the kind of unbelievable pensions and top shelf medical coverage most of us just dream about. Do they really understand us?

Has anyone noticed that almost all former communist countries now have the word Democratic in their new govt. handle? Folks, we need change but not the kind Obama and his ilk are proposing. We need to kick out everyone from the Congress in 2010 and replace them with term limited, Independents. We need to force them to pay into social security, buy their own health care and get their pensions like the rest of us....after 30 to 40 years at a fraction of their pay.

So, while we debate semantics, the carpet-baggers in Washington and their partners in crime at the Federal Reserve are stealing us all blind. Google the "Iron Law of Oligarchy" and tell me if it’s really socialism we should be worried about.

I'm more of a Sunday morning press show junkie than I should be. But, being such, I can report, too, that Senator Mitch McConnell, yesterday, said, he not only likes President Obama, but likes him very much. Given the accusations from right wing hate-mongers, that should not be possible. Unfortunately, though, they shun civil sites. And, so, I fear, they will not be around to read of any of this.

                  socialism – noun
                  1. a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.
                  2. procedure or practice in accordance with this theory.
                  3. (in Marxist theory) the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles.

                  communism – noun
                  1. a theory or system of social organization based on the holding of all property in common, actual ownership being ascribed to the community as a whole or to the state.
                  2. a system of social organization in which all economic and social activity is controlled by a totalitarian state dominated by a single and self-perpetuating political party.

"A single and self-perpetuating political party."
Hmm. The Democrats want to shut down conservative talk radio. First they tried the Fairness Doctrine, and since that blatant attack on free speech failed, they are going for "localism" as advocated by FCC diversity czar, Mark Lloyd, who wants to tax local conservative programs 100% of their annual operating budget, effectively driving them out of business.

Now, we hear that Obama wants to bail out the failing newspapers, in effect, creating a government-controlled press. Funny thing is, most if not all of these newspapers are liberal.

Under Obama, we've seen a government takeover of auto companies and banks, and an attempt to control the energy sector (cap-and-trade) and health care (17% of the GDP). That's socialism. Plus, we have him going for control of the media, which is a Marxist view.

Many of his advisors are self-avowed anti-capitalists -- John P. Holdren, Cass Sunstein, Carol Browner, to name a few.

Van Jones is a self-avowed Communist.

A number of Democrats, including Maxine Waters and Mark Lloyd have praised Communist-style dictators like Castro and Chavez.

Adding all these facts together can only lead to the conclusion that Obama -- and the hard left fringe of the party -- want to impose Communist-style rule in this country, where free speech and Constitutional rights are a thing of the past.
