Boehner Admits That Obama Is Not A Socialist »
Posted By TechnologyExpert 3 months ago in Political NewsRepublican National Committee chairman Michael Steele sent out a recent fundraising letter claiming the Democrats are aiming for a "socialist power grab," trying the the familiar GOP scare tactics (many Americans do not understand what socialism really is, or how it differs from communism, and also equate it to becoming a new U.S.S.R.). Today on NBC's "Meet the Press," House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) was blunted asked about his opinion of such rhetoric, to which he had to admit, Barack Obama is not a socialist.

It may seem as though it is common sense, but IMHO it says and I think proves that there is no UNITY in the GOP. MIXED MESSAGES!

"GREGORY: That’s fine. Do you think the President is a socialist? Because that’s what ...
BOEHNER: No.
GREGORY: Okay. Because the head of the Republican Party is calling it that.
BOEHNER: Listen, I didn’t call it that, and I’m not going to call it that. " -

They should be declared a terrorist organization in America and the world for preemptive war, torture, loss of habeas corpus, eavesdropping without a warrant, outing of a CIA agent, outing of prosecutors for politcal reasons.... and all their un-American accusations/fear-mongering, supported across the board in the party!

Obama is quite comfortable with the established American practice of socialism for the rich and laissez faire for the rest of us.
Reply
The good old socialism that Karl Marx espoused would provide a safety net for everyone. But we bailed out the mortgage lenders while letting record numbers of working people lose their homes.
The "New Deal" sort of socialism would have put people to work at government jobs repairing infrastructure in hard economic times. But we gave money to big corporations instead and got ourselves a "jobless recovery."
When people got up on their hind legs and protested the dirty dealing and outrages perpetrated by private insurance, an old-school socialist might have contemplated a single-payor plan or even a plan of the British model. But not our prez - his plan is to preserve the system that the public is so unhappy with, to coerce participation in that system, and subsidize us WITH OUR OWN TAX DOLLARS if we cannot afford to do so.
That's socialism in support of the rich. I don't much like it. I wish Obama would practice that good old socialism that serves the working people.-

There is the ignorant rant again. Socialism is the "from each according to his ability to each according to his need". In other words Obama's answer to Joe the plumber, "We need to share the wealth." Obama's words that caused the liberals to get angry with Joe. Very silly.
Reply
Why do liberals ALWAYS view anyone who has made good on the American dream of starting a business and being successful as greedy and needing to be punished. That is very stupid. There are very few people in businesses that are greedy. Their main aim is to make a decent profit by making a better product or providing a better service and thus bringing better excellence to the market place causing the others to respond in kind. Outrageous profit is held in check by the market place of competing products. Other companies will lower their prices to try and gain an advantage.
It is only when the governments step in to micromanage the products and set selling prices that profits get out of hand. State governments do that with insurance.
But the liberals ALWAYS claim GREED. PATHETIC!!!

THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE UP UNDER NATURE!
Reply
so Nature, you accuse Barack of Dumya's Tarp and his efforts to include some repug input into his economic stimulus bill are belittled!
Just imagine if we had McBush in charge who admitted his weak point is economics and that he wanted war with Iran too!
Hey, at least you are seeing progress in the economy and Barack is not saying "Outsourcing is good for America", like Dumya said!
It took Roosevelt years to recover the country from the Great Depression that repugs also gave us! 8 Years of repug abuse and Barack hasn't been in office only 8 months to overcome so many years of failure! -

As I have said before, this is all typical TAG YOUR IT, politics. Obama is what the New World Order calls a Modern Progressive. The words Socialist or Communist are scare tactic buzz words that the modern left has mostly discarded. The propaganda chiefs are engaged in a war of words but the old motives are the same. Obama acts like a socialist, believes like a communist and governs like a progressive. Progressives don't like traditional America or the so called American dream. They see a world dominated by one government using the principles of communism, the propaganda of socialism and the tactics of Big Brother. Call comrade Obama anything you like but he is anything but an American patriot.

My dear friend felt the same way you do except now she has changed her mind in the matter of just a few days. Her 26 year old healthy son who is too old to stay on his parent's insurance and only has a part time job due to the economy suffered an accident that has left him in a coma for the last week. If he ever recovers he could need expensive care for the rest of his life or at least a very long time. With no insurance the hospital isn't going to break their legs providing it for him and his parents don't have much money as public servants. What a blessing it would have been for him to have had some insurance even if his employer had to get it for him through a government subsidy! Want to guess what his bills are so far?

Has anyone considered for a moment that our political system even exists anymore? Perhaps it’s nothing more than a great fraud being perpetrated on the American people. The good old guys and gals in DC do a great job separating themselves from the day to day frustrations / struggles of normal everyday Americans. They get the kind of unbelievable pensions and top shelf medical coverage most of us just dream about. Do they really understand us?
Reply
Has anyone noticed that almost all former communist countries now have the word Democratic in their new govt. handle? Folks, we need change but not the kind Obama and his ilk are proposing. We need to kick out everyone from the Congress in 2010 and replace them with term limited, Independents. We need to force them to pay into social security, buy their own health care and get their pensions like the rest of us....after 30 to 40 years at a fraction of their pay.
So, while we debate semantics, the carpet-baggers in Washington and their partners in crime at the Federal Reserve are stealing us all blind. Google the "Iron Law of Oligarchy" and tell me if it’s really socialism we should be worried about.-

chuck, your whole first para obviously refers to the Bush admistration that gave us 2 wars (one illegal), no regulation and the depression!
Reply
On your second , its because they realize that some dem reform is actually good for their communist country! Oh, yes, don't forget that the 109th Repug Congress wasn't called the "DO NOTHING" Congress for nothing! How about no investiations at all under the repugs and Hastert even going to a 4 day week in the house!
Forget that it was the oligarchs versus the Dems in ancient Athens... and nothing as changed except the Repugs wear the oligarch mantle now! Paul Wellstone, a dem, proposed no corporation donations to politicians at all, and got laughed at!
The Constitution does not say "of... for... and by the corporation!"

I'm more of a Sunday morning press show junkie than I should be. But, being such, I can report, too, that Senator Mitch McConnell, yesterday, said, he not only likes President Obama, but likes him very much. Given the accusations from right wing hate-mongers, that should not be possible. Unfortunately, though, they shun civil sites. And, so, I fear, they will not be around to read of any of this.

socialism – noun
Reply
1. a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.
2. procedure or practice in accordance with this theory.
3. (in Marxist theory) the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles.
communism – noun
1. a theory or system of social organization based on the holding of all property in common, actual ownership being ascribed to the community as a whole or to the state.
2. a system of social organization in which all economic and social activity is controlled by a totalitarian state dominated by a single and self-perpetuating political party.
"A single and self-perpetuating political party."
Hmm. The Democrats want to shut down conservative talk radio. First they tried the Fairness Doctrine, and since that blatant attack on free speech failed, they are going for "localism" as advocated by FCC diversity czar, Mark Lloyd, who wants to tax local conservative programs 100% of their annual operating budget, effectively driving them out of business.
Now, we hear that Obama wants to bail out the failing newspapers, in effect, creating a government-controlled press. Funny thing is, most if not all of these newspapers are liberal.
Under Obama, we've seen a government takeover of auto companies and banks, and an attempt to control the energy sector (cap-and-trade) and health care (17% of the GDP). That's socialism. Plus, we have him going for control of the media, which is a Marxist view.
Many of his advisors are self-avowed anti-capitalists -- John P. Holdren, Cass Sunstein, Carol Browner, to name a few.
Van Jones is a self-avowed Communist.
A number of Democrats, including Maxine Waters and Mark Lloyd have praised Communist-style dictators like Castro and Chavez.
Adding all these facts together can only lead to the conclusion that Obama -- and the hard left fringe of the party -- want to impose Communist-style rule in this country, where free speech and Constitutional rights are a thing of the past.-

Should I become convinced that your conclusion is accurate, Bossman, I'll not only have to join sides with you but will be compelled to take up arms against my government.
Reply
Fortunately, your conclusion is, just, so much nonsense and I don't think any of your readers need start shooting. First of all, it was Bush and Paulson who initiated bailing out banks. And, actually, I give them credit for that. I know Herbert Hoover refused to do so in 1929 and by 1933, unemployment rose from 5% to 25%. Some of us believe there was a link. And back, then, too, we didn't have federally insured deposits. Have you calculated what the losses would have been to taxpayers if big banks had been permitted to go under and we'd been forced to recompense all of their investors? At least, in offering loans to keep them afloat, there is some chance of recovery, I would think. But I'm not an economist, are you? Still, I've tried.
I've read that small and not so-small businesses were in grave danger if big banks were permitted to go under because many are in need of regular short-term loans to cover their payrolls. Have you looked into that and what consequences to such businesses may have followed if big banks were allowed to fail? Were Paulson, Bush, and Bernanke lying when they asserted we were on the brink of a Great Depression if we didn't bail them out? I recall, too, they insisted it must happen within days or else. Was that all right-wing baloney? Or was it real? And do you hate Obama because rather than replying, "Oh! That's just a bunch of right-wing bull," he rather replied he believed Bush and Paulson and felt democrats should do as they recommended? My impression is, Obama can't get credit from you even when he goes along with what your side recommends. Now why is that? -

And, so, I ask again. Why did you reach the absurd conclusion that President Obama's goal is "to impose Communist-style rule in this country, where free speech and Constitutional rights are a thing of the past?" Surely you know, if true, that would compel you, I, and all Americans to immediately rise against our government. You believe things are so bad that an armed uprising is called for, do you?
Reply
You know, people on the right are concerned about being accused of racism. But what else may we conclude when we see so many, like you, displaying such reckless extremism? I don't see you as dumb at all. But prejudice makes people say weird things. And you're showing the signs, Bossman. Even your adopted name helps give you away.
Finally, I looked up about the newspaper thing because I wasn't so certain I liked the idea of bailouts for them, either. If they were to occur, it would have to be for both liberal and conservative papers or I'd fight just as hard against it, too. And I might fight against it anyway, as may Obama. We don't know, yet, do we? But you're not interested in winning me over as an ally on a few issues. That would call for civil conversation. And that's not what you're about. I think you have much to learn from President Obama because that is what he's about. And, OK, I concede, I have much to learn from him, too. -

boss, you are wrong on your history, as usual for you revisionists! The first effort by Americans was the Truth in Telecommuiications Bill that Reagan vetoed!
Reply
On the Fairness act , it just meant that both sides of an argument had to be presented - something Fox and lImpball will never do, so America will just get more polarized by the unopposed, infuriating lies from the right! There is no left wing equivalent to the right media and think tank control and shouldn't be - how much can you beat equality, freedom and having a conscience for your fellow man (all dem/lib/true American values) to death?
Funny how right wingers/evangelicals would rather be able to propigate their lies or their religion being imposed on others than have their nation be cohesive! Funny how these same un-Americans who claimed "Love it or leave it" under Dumya are now silent with this mantra - but are claiming secession, revolution and arming!
You sir, are no American!
