Facebook Queen Palin Grabs Headlines, Ducks Press »
Posted By Progressive 3 months, 1 week ago in Political NewsBy remaining at the forefront of various political arguments while avoiding interviews and traditional politicking, Sarah Palin has boldly mastered a new political trick, reports Politico. The former Alaskan governor has relied almost solely on social networking new-media, such as Facebook, to spread her message about "death panels" and other missives—and neatly ducked media questions or challenges to her positions.
After dropping off the traditional media grid, Palin now claims 850,000 Facebook "friends" who eagerly await her next post, which aren't all that frequent. It took Palin five days to respond to criticism from both parties concerning her post insisting that health care reform would involve "death panels." Even political enemies admit her style fits online networking perfectly.

Palin is the reality-show version of a politician--an instant celebrity who can be as outrageous as she wants because it only serves to bring her more attention. And Facebook and Twitter are tailor-made for celebreality culture. They allow wide dissemination of unverifiable opinions while allowing the spewer of those opiinions to hide from reality if she so chooses.

When Obama uses Facebook and other social media, he doesn't shy away from mainstream media, where he could be challenged on his words. Palin's sole reliance on the internet is perfect for know-nothings who want an outlet for propaganda without direct interaction from fact checkers.-

Only 850,000? Sounds like Palin's sect is pretty small and that the conventional media moguls have been giving her more"play" than she is worth!
Reply
More seriously, Facebook (and other "controlled" groups) provide a pefect "mileau" for sects that want to be able to preach to "accolytes" widely dispersed geographically. We should keep in mind that various governments are already spending money to "control thought" on such sites (e.g. the israeli foreign ministry pays hordes of zionists to post "positive" propaganda in such forums).
All the more reason why we should resist internet content going the way of more traditional media, with the content strictly controlled and restricted by a handful of "media moguls". Net neutrality is vital to our democracy.
By the way, has anyone of contrary opinions tried joining Palin's "group of friends" and posting some uncomfortable questions with real information attached? A real test of Palin would be the result: are such things tolerated or banned? -

If you want a true fiscal conservative, look no further than Sarah Palin. The liberal media trashes her without mercy because they know she would put an end to the gravy train in Congress. She went after corruption in BOTH parties, and had the head of the AK Republican party fined $12K for ethics violations. Per her campaign promise, she cut the state budget 10% from the previous governor (a Republican). She also reduced requests for federal government funds by a whopping 85% by applying her red pen to earmarks. If Palin were POTUS, no way would we be facing a $2 trillion deficit this year. She would be paying down the national debt, not adding to it.

In a CNN straw poll, when asking people who they think would be the worst pick for a GOP Presidential candidate for 2012, Palin rose above the mediocracy with a whopping 43%; Ron Paul came in second at 16%, with Newt pulling in 11%.

So you want Palin to go to be on shows where they woud be the attack dogs out to trap he and get to her in other ways. She was forced int that situation once by the Republican campaign. She was asked questions that any active political figure can't answer without sounding stupid because of the time involved in doing some things and the person doing the interview only ever asked her those questions in order to trap her. She does not ask those questions of anybody else. This is the very liberal MSM you are talking about. They are so in bed with Obama it stinks. One has tingles in his leg thinking about Obama and another said similar silly things. But if she was interviewed on FOX you would claim that she was not being asked the tough questions.
Reply
When will Obama be interviewed by FOX? Is he chicken? What is good for the goose is good for the gander. Maybe Palin will be on the MSM when your beloved Barry will be on FOX.
Keep these stories coming libs. The more the better for her. The angrier you get with her the more popular she is with conservatives. That is because she talks about what they think and the more you rant the more they know they have a winner.

Sounds like Beau is watching the fringe media. Obama is absolutely shying sway from the mainstream media- he is too much of a coward to appear on FOX news this Sunday with Chris Wallace. Wallace's description of Obama as a whinny petty politician is spot on. Obama can not handle real questions, only love fests at CNN, MsNBC, ABC, CBS, and the rest of the fringe media. All questions for Obama need to be staged and have the answers on his teleprompter, and even then he manages to answer "stupidly" some times. Odumba is nothing but a perpetual 2-bit community organizer.

Sounds like you have been drinking the Koolaid for some time.

Obama appears on the news all the time. Chris Wallace is a partisan freak. He recently called the Obama administration "the biggest bunch of crybabies I have dealt with in my 30 years in Washington." Why should Obama support that by going on his show? If you agree with thtat, you're a moron--it's a meaningless insult, and lends nothing to civil discourse.
I'm not blaming Palin for not appearing with Keith Olbermann. I'm saying she hides from all mainstream media--even responsible journalists.
And incidentally, the Founding Fathers would be aptly described as community organizers. -

As a matter of fact, network news shows are prohibited from "staging" (such as FOX does) or providing questions in advance, so there are no teleprompters for Obama there. Do you think Glenn Beck doesn't use one for many of his stupid rants?
Sounds like you're watching Glenn Beck and his attempt to legitimize his circus act by declaring the MSM to be the fringe. Keep saying it until ya'll believe it!
I'd skip whiney Chris Wallace, too, if I were Obama. -

During the election campaign Obama went face to face with O liely twice on faux noise. He won there. He has no need to go back there again, since faux noise is NOT a legitimate news organiztion. Just like he has no need to appear on the Oprah Winfrey show.

Sarah Palin is simply exercising her right to free speech in a 21st century forum. As a private citizen she does not have the same media access as Obama. Unless you has been living in a cave for the last year, you know that the outrageously offensive attacks against her by the mainstream media and others on the left have shamed our country in the eyes of the world. Don't like her? Don't follow her. Disagree with her? Then respond in a civil manner with facts, not personal attacks and demeaning comments. It's that simple.

You're right that Palin is exercising her right to free speech, and she doesn't have the same media access as Obama.

But she does get invited to speak with journalists, and refuses:

Progressive, I do not tweet. What is a 14-hr sock puppet? Thanks, however, for illustrating "personal attacks" and "demeaning comments" for other readers. I'm curious as to the source of your claim about the demographics of those who follow Gov. Palin on Facebook. I wonder why so many are comparing her as an equal to the President of the United States. Must be something to that.

Who's comparing Palin "as an equal to the President of the United States"?
Reply
My comment at the top of the thread only compared Obama's use of social media as an additional way to communicate with the public to Palin's use of it as her sole way of spreading propaganda while ducking legitimate questions about the validity of her information.

Obama is scared to go on Fox. He knows he might get a hard question. He could not even answer the townhall crowd when they asked him how he was going to finance the healthcare bill. Now he is trying to suggest that it can be done by taking money from fraud and abuse. That is absurd. To be sure there is plenty of fraud and abuse, but getting that kind of money from stopping it is totally impossible.

Sarah Palin is running the Republican party from Facebook. It is too bad that McGuiness did not win that auction. Sarah Palin and Todd would have wrung him out good. What a jerk.-

He could have won the auction, but Palin refused to let him. She was afraid to have dinner with a critic.

As for healthcare--a complete digression from the topic here, but I can't help myself--it is Congress's responsibility to say how the systems in their legislation will be financed. Here's how it works in the U.S.: Congress drafts legislation; the President signs it into law or vetoes it. -

absolutely right Granitepaw- and when has the government EVER gotten rid of waste and graud. Bigger government ALWAYS brings more- Let's see cash for clunkers worked so well, and look at ACORN as a shining example of how the government runs things. Now that really should make people want to turn over their health care to the government!

I want to know from someone in authority, How did Sarah Palin get to be elected governor of a state? Everybody in Alaska can't be retarded. And if they are, I can understand how she got elected. Another thing, why did McCain choose her as a running mate. She totally embarrassed herself all over the country. I would be ashamed to let everyone know just how stupid I was. The statement "it is best to remain silent and thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt" fits Palin to a T. But I actually felt sorry for her doing those interviews with Katie Couric. Someone hip and in the know would at the very least knows of at least one magazine they read on the regular. Poor Sarah could not name one.
Reply
But she keeps talking even as she has resigned her governorship. But she is still not making common sense.-

It is revealing how the anti-Palin commenters always resort to the same themes, i.e. Palin is dumb, tabloid fodder, etc. Libs never address any substance, such as the fact that Sarah Palin cut her state budget by 10% while maintaining a rainy day fund of savings amounting to billions of dollars. A true fiscal conservative, she turned down a $25K pay raise and sold the state jet. Obama could learn much from Palin about executive leadership.
Reply
It makes me wonder if these adolescent comments are written by uneducated members of left-wing organizations who have made it their mission to attack Palin because she is in effect the anti-Obama.
She is a staunch advocate of a strong national defense, fiscal responsibility, low taxes, and small government. All of which is anathema to labor unions, welfare recipients, and those with limited education who depend on a nanny state. -
