    BMI is actually a quite simple calculation, in standard units.

    BMI = mass(kg) / height ^2 (meters)

    If you're stupid, or out of touch with the rest of the world, it may seem daunting.

    BMI also takes into consideration the attributes of asian peoples, who a genetically predisposed to have lower BMIs than europeans and americans. It also fails to take bone density as well as musculature into consideration.

    But it is a very good guide, as most "big boned" people have "fat bones."
