The Impeachment of President Obama »
Posted By Progressive 4 months, 2 weeks ago in Political OpinionThe GOP will try to impeach President Obama on some ridiculous charge if they're ever able to get Congress back--and it's not going to be pretty, writes Bob Cesca for the Huffington Post. Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh will come up with a reason for impeachment and a way to sell it, which won't be hard—the party has already had 100 members of Congress endorse the "cartoonish" czar bill. But contrary to the picture the media is painting, the left wasn't equally "guilty of wackaloon attacks" like these during the Bush years.

Actually, he's violated several points of the Constitution but I don't really think that would be an impeachable offense. The seizure of private industry, banking and soon health care are not supposed to be done by the President. Business should be separate as is the banking. I cannot imagine Washington, Adams, Jefferson or Franklin ever considering the health care issue. Then again, they were more worried about keeping the Brits from coming back to worry about stuff like that.

100 Republican members of Congress have signed onto Rep. Jack Kingston's cartoonish czar bill. 100 House Republicans out of 177 have attached their names to a bill that was essentially invented as a television bit by Glenn Beck without any regard for the fact that "czar" is a nickname invented by the press, and that every president -- all of them! -- has employed policy and political advisers within their administrations. But it functions as an effective Beck attack because he knows his audience isn't bright enough to distinguish "czars" from "communists." By the way, not to be out-crazied by his House colleagues, Senator Ensign introduced an amendment to the Finance Committee health care reform bill called "Transparency in Czars." This might as well be "Transparency in Hobbits" because it's just that ludicrous.-

Actually, I was asking about President Obama's new level of government myself. It's almost structured like the old German type prior to WW2 or currently in the UK. They had ministers and then department heads. I asked why the President needed so many levels of government, especially when the Constitution was against this. If Beck gets the credit for moving this question forward great. I don't care. I'm tired of the cut backs and reductions in staffing yet our Chancellor Obama created new ministry positions and expands government further. I think if he wants those people to work there, he should pay for it out of his own pocket.

There were about 70,000.
So?
So never confuse noise with numbers.
Never confuse opposition with the ability to achieve.
Never assume those who hate most, are strongest in a fight.
Republicans will never regain enough seats to
impeach President Obama, for any reason.
Not in 2010; not in 2012; not in 2014.
No doubt they will regain power, as the pendulum
swings. Perhaps as early as 2016.
Doubt it though;
- the fever of foolishness that has swept the Republican
body, is a wasting disease.
They will be a long time recovering.-

Actually, that's about the number Hannity said. ABC News reported a much larger number, that has since been withdrawn as an unreliable count.

As for your predictions, I can't see the GOP wasting time trying to take out Obama. They will have their hands full cleaning up the mess already made to waste time. Congress will become a GOP stronghold and Obama, if things don't change will be the next Jimmy Carter in the history books. Loved by the ultra left, disliked by the center and hated by the right.
Concentrated power has always been the enemy of liberty. -

"Nevertheless, there's a growing conventional wisdom in the press alleging that both sides of the political spectrum are equally guilty of wackaloon attacks and conspiracy theories.
Granted there might be one or two very fringe exceptions but this is otherwise a false equivalency written by the establishment media as part of their self-conscious effort to seem balanced. The distinction is that any "fringe" attacks from the left during the Bush years weren't mainstreamed and legitimized the way the wingnut attacks are today, even though the fringe attacks from the left turned out to be mostly accurate.
On the right, we're hearing about communist takeovers, birth certificates, Oval Office dress codes, teleprompters, death panels, czars and a return to segregated buses. During the previous administration, on the other hand, the left insisted that Iraq didn't have WMD. This turned out to be true. The left insisted that there wasn't a connection between Saddam and 9/11. Also true. The left alleged that George W. Bush was incompetent. The rest of the nation caught up with the left when Katrina slammed into New Orleans, shattering the levees while Bush was eating cake with John McCain.
And throughout the Bush years -- no matter how accurate the left's "fringe" attacks might've been -- liberals were marginalized and laughed off by the establishment press, ignored by certain leaders in our own party and attacked as unpatriotic by the Republicans."-

Hold on. There are some serious mistakes in your comments. First, we have found tons of WMD. WMD is the modern term for NCBW is Nuclear, Chemical, Biological Warfare or Weapons depending on the branch of the military you were in. We found chemical and bio weapons. The nuclear program either didn't exist or was traded to Syria for protection of Saddam's family.
Reply
On Saddam, he's been at war with the US since 1990. He broke every treaty he signed ad violated the Oil for Food program with the help of almost everyone at the United Nations related to Khofi Annan. So even if he didn't have nukes, he should have been taken out. The people of Iraq are grateful.
On Katrina, don't lay blame at Bush's feet alone. While it's true, he's the Republican President so everything is his fault but there was a total breakdown of every city, parish and state service. Start at the mayor's office. While he's demanding the President save his sorry city's butt, he was hiding at the Hilton across the street form the Brown center. He's demanding buses to transport people yet he left his 200 or downtown to wash away. The levies were supposed to be maintained, money was paid, why were they not repaired and maintained? Bribery. New Orleans is a city build on graft, crime and corruption. Again, instead of the president, why not ask the city officials who also own the contracting firms about that. While you're at it, mention that Katrina missed their city and the water swell was well below the category 4 hurricane their walls were supposed to protect from. Last but not least on the local morons, the governor. I don't remember her name but I do remember her doing a press conference in front of our hotel in Baton Rouge. Big convention put on by ABB and she's out in front yell how she wasn't willing to release control the fed yet, the storm didn't seem that bad.... So let's see, all leadership rolls were controlled by the Democrats so of course you blame the Republican President. You gotta give the liberal media credit when it comes to covering up for their team.

What are you talking about? I'm a life member in good standing, that means I cut big checks to the party when they ask. No one of any real power is talking impeachment, they're asking how and why he feels he needs so many taxpayer paid for advisers. The Constitution clearly protected us from that by forcing all cabinet positions through congressional approval. Since his party controls the House and Senate, there would be no problem with confirmation. That is unless someone forgets to pay his or her taxes on a regular basis.

As to common people, I've attended a tax rally last weekend as just an observer. I was amazed by how many showed up and how much of a grass roots effort this was. Again, as a lifer, if the party is supporting something or better, sponsoring something, I'm officially invited. This was all grass roots. In talking with many I was surprised to find so many people new to anything political. Just like a lot of Obama people were young and first time voters, this was almost as fresh to them. Many were Democrats who regretted the changes going on in government. Others were people who might vote if there's a presidential election but that was about it. Others never were involved and some never voted. It was amazing.
Oh, one other thing, compared to recent rallies, this rated as one of the neatest. According to the parks services, there was no need for the massive cleanup found after the Obama health rallies or Laborfest. Everyone was neat, orderly and followed directions. The only 2 members of law enforcement was the county Sheriff who was invited to speak and one of his deputies who drove him there. No other security was required. There were a few Obama supporters present but no one threatened them or restricted their free speech rights. While they didn't get to use the big stage, they had full reign of the rally. That many supporters all new to the political game. I'm feeling much better about 2010. For you Dems in Congress, you may what to update your resumes, you might be looking...

The right wing of the country continues to dominate the news. Glen Beck is a hero in the State of Washington. Fox News has more viewers than any other news network. 91% of all talk radio is devoted to the right wing view point. The "News" business is slowly being consolidated into the hands of a few.

We are being manipulated. We were manipulated into a war in Iraq. Manipulated into huge bailouts for AIG and others. We are slowly being manipulated into believing that somehow the President of the United States is evil and dangerous.
It is imperative that two things happen. First we need campaign reform. The rich and their interests can not continue to be allowed to dominate politics through the purchase of our representatives. Secondly, we need to have the FCC bring back some type of fairness doctrine so that we are provided information and facts that support a multitude of opinions. -

Bush signed the death warrants on our troop he sent to that illegal and unnecessary war with Iraq. And not one peep out of the repugs. He instigated the widest illegal survelance on American citizens that our nation has ever endured. He instigated a torture policy that goes against US and international laws. But the repugs cheered him on and gave him everything he wanted. The reason you repugs didn't impeach Bush was because you're complicit in his actions.

Just more DNC smoke screens for the president to hide behind. Bit surprise. Isnt' the DNC the team that wants to always impeach the GOP presidents? Are they not the ones who create stories and tell them so many times, it seems to be the truth? This is a whole lot of nothing. Impeachment will not be possible even if the President was accused of a major crime. Both houses of Congress are under the Dems control. It will not happen. So now go back to your Palin bashing or another set of "experts" claiming how the ice is melting or than 9-11 was an inside job or some other crazy front page grabbing smoke screen.

Some, but not all, of the left thought Bush had prior knowledge of the September 11th attacks. It's a matter of record that he knew an attack might be imminent based upon the famous PDB titled "Bin Laden Determined to Attack Inside the United States." So that one was partially true.
The left also accused the administration of using illegal wiretaps, torture and other human rights violations. All true. Did Bush have business connections with the Bin Laden family? Yes. Did 100 Democratic members of Congress co-sponsor a bill calling him out for it? Of course not.

There is a word for anyone here who is still carping about what George Bush did: DEFLECTION. Sure, GWB committed grievous Constitutional infractions and probably SHOULD have been impeached himself, but that has NOTHING to do with whether The Barry should be impeached. Does ANYONE really think that someone who has managed to sit at that desk while the national debt has DOUBLED shouldn't be impeached? Particularly since he engineered most of it himself? (Don't quack about the first bailout either - he was standing right there cheerleading while it happened - and VOTED for it in the Senate, I'll bet. ) The Barry has ALSO taken several liberties with the Constitution and should be called to task for it.
