It is time to replace Capitalism with Democracy! »
Posted By Tumultuous 2 months ago in Political OpinionFor years because of Bush's fascist agenda many of us said this is not a Democracy. A Democracy only in name to facilitate a hidden agenda. Now we hear from Republicans that this is no longer a Democracy because of Obama and the socialist agenda he inherited from Bush. Anyway you look at it this is not a Democracy!

this person is an idiot. Capitalism is a financial way of doing things in a free society. Democracy is a political method of doing things. The two are separate. in point of fact we live in a republic not a democracy. We use democratic methods to select our representatives. This nutcase thinks that a business forces people to vote for certain people. What an idiot. When is the last time your boss told you how to vote. Mine have been very careful to avoid the issue as boss. Friend to friend we have had some discussions but never at work.

Take responsibility for your own failures liberals. I'm sure it's a time consuming job, but take a break from the non-profit. The pencils will be there for you to sharpen when you get back. -

The article mentioned "democracy = equality and freedom". With the deepening gap between the rich and the poor, equality is not happening under our current system. Socialism and communism are more focused on equality.
Reply
In terms of freedom. Both capitalism, socialism and communism can claim credits to freedom depending on what kind of freedom we are talking about. Freedom to capitalism means free to do whatever one wants to maximise profits. Freedom for socialism on the other hand means free from being disadvantaged for being poor.
So capitalism cannot simply allow democracy to flourish. With a large proportion of people being poor and a small group of extremely rich people, it is only logical that we will have a majority of people to vote against feeding all the wealth to the few rich corporations. -

You need look no further then the present Tax Code to see we are for the most part a Socialist nation, we only call it a republic in name for more then a century now.

Remove the desire or need to achieve or attempt to be self reliant and you get where we are today. A self perpetuating group of people oppressed by the very people who claim to be helping them.
Are time was up when Teddy was able to claim land for the US government for the sheer purpose of calling national land.-

The ruling principle in a true capitalist system is justice. The ruling principle in a democracy is greed, when 51% realize they can rob the other 49%.
Reply
Interesting that capitalism is accused of being a system of greed. Captialism can only exist in a constitutional republic where the rights of the individual are protected; the greedy majority (or those posturing as the voice of the people) seeks to violate those rights and steal what they have not earned.
P.S. Those "national" lands that the federal government has commandeered may need to be auctioned off so that we can pay the trillions in debt that we owe to foreign nations.

Actually, a Democracy is a government where the powers of government are vested with all the people. The use of capitalism has diminished this democracy...(uS). And done so due to the physics involved with using a currency.
Reply
Equally is missing...the state we live in is not fair or impartial. The Judicial system has failed, over and over...and due to the use of a currency.

Actually, the USA is a representative republic. The US is technically, not a democracy.

As to your other claims, how else would you support trade? Or are you one of the nuts running around claiming they want to barter, trade or whatever but money if evil?
Capitalism and free markets are a good thing. Unless you like communism where the state provides little and expects everything. Again, from the last 100 years of communism, it's an abject failure. Capitalism is doing rather well.

The discussion of the subjects of political and economic philosophies are enormously time-consuming and difficult to discuss in this type of format.

Capitalism, as a social system, has been misunderstood and is virtually unknown today. What we have now is what might be called a mixed system, with predominantly socialist elements and remnants of capitalism.
A good place to begin understanding what capitalism really is is this site:

I guess the best place to start is looking at what kind of governance we have. We're a Constitutional Republic, ruled by the law of our Constitution. We're a representatie Democracy, where the majority gets to pick their representitives. We can also vote on issues, and the majority pass laws; but they can only apply if they don't go against the intent of the Constitution. That way, we don't have mob rule.

We are not a pure democracy. -

I seriously don't think you have ever read the Constitution Jordan.
Reply
If you did you would not be a liberal.
You see...Liberals only like it when it works for them.
Too bad that Liberals stand for Marxism and for the most part the Constitution to a Liberal is like a cross to a vampire.
Or maybe like a cross to an atheist would fit better since they like to kill babies and condemn Christians for their belief in Jesus Christ.-

Please don't equate atheists with modern day liberals. It doesn't matter if one holds that Rights (the actions necessary for a human being to live as a man) are from God or man's nature. The Constitution is a great document that puts into practice the political system necessary for a just, free society by protecting individual rights.
Reply
While some atheists are socialists or statists and condemn religions, others are proponents of individual rights and advocate the only politico-economic system in which those rights can be practiced: capitalism.
Advocates of capitalism -- true laissez-faire capitalism -- have no problem living with religious people and atheists who don't use the government to impose their beliefs on others.
Advocates of statism (of whatever variety) are mystics in their own right, merely substituting slavery to a god with slavery to the state, and people are just members of a collective. It's really a primitive tribal mentality that holds the collective as supreme and any individual members can be sacrificed and enslaved for the good of the tribe.

I'd love to have a civil debate with a liberal and find out where they actually stand. From what I've been able to gleen, when it comes to taking my money and giving it away, they have no problem with that. When it's their money, forget it. We're being fascists or some other "hate" term. Oh, sorry, I forgot, for liberals, it's free speech, for conservatives, anything we say about anything can be turned into hate speech. But seriously, what and where are your boundaries?
