Perhaps Obama realizes that public relations is part of his job. It's time for the US to be involved with something positive in the world, rather than a crazy war, out of control actions by contractors, torture, lies, filthy politics, and so on. I know I'm ready for something positive.

Why is he out of line? The Olympics is one of the few positive things left between nations. And it opens up the world for a few short weeks to show people there are cultures beyond their narrow perspectives. It's all good, and there's nothing wrong with some 'good' getting in there, especially given the negative view of our country left by the bush administration.

I can only imagine what dirty deals will be going down in chicago if this happens. Obama is on a pay back tour. This is NOT the job of the president and there are many other important matters HE should be taking care of. I agree he is way out of line again on this one!!!!

Why doesn't he stay here and work on solving the problems of our nation? He's such an egotist that he has to get involved in everything that's not germaine to the american public. What is he doing? Trying to get the Olympics so he can have his union cronies strong arm the Olympic committee? What other U.S. president has lobbied to get the Olympics on american soil? What's he up to now?

I think the Obamas need to stay home and start doing some work and the gazillion things that they promised. They love to crank up AF-1 and tour the world and dine around and act like socialites while spending millions for the security staff, vehicles, Air Force, etc that travel with them. How in the heck do they think we can pay for the facilities and accommodations required for an Olympics event when this country cannot pay it's bills now. If Oprah wants to do so much for Chicago let her do it with her bank account.

I think this is a slap in the face of the soldiers fighting in Afganistan and his own hand picked general in charge who asked him 71 days ago for more troops in Afganistan for without the buildup the mission may be lost....President Obama as far as I know still has not resonded...Guess the Obama's mission for Chicargo appears more important. To me this is disgraceful.

Modern day Nero, instead of fiddling,Obama is screwing with the nuts, and bolts.Surely he's not serious about taking on this minuscule task while the unemployment rate is approaching ten percent, his anointed general in Afghanistan is hanging by a thread, wondering what the hell is the hold up.Then the fiasco called health plan is swinging in the wind. This is reminiscent of Carter, and the tennis court schedule. He has a legitimate cabinet, then thirty one Czars, the first lady has a twenty person staff.Last, but not least surely Chicago has a chamber of commerce.Maybe he just misses the wheeling, and dealing of city politics

Playing olympic chairman and trying to bring it to your buddies in Chicago is not trying to help the nation its trying to help a few friends back in the hood. The nation has alot of problems that the president should be attending to. The olymics isn't one of them. I know of another world leader bent on get the olympics. They were held in Berlin back then.

I can't imagine why the leader of the free world is taking time from his (really) busy schedule to fly thousands of miles to lobby for an athletic event. It might be the stupidest thing he has done so far. And that's saying something. I live near Chicago and I'm hoping Rio gets it. Or Toyko. Or ANYONE else. Three reasons it should not be held here:
