Posted By Purplesheep 2 months, 3 weeks ago in NewsConsumers in the United Kingdom are currently being encouraged to buy products made in the third world, but with a union jack attached to make them feel better about it or actually to mislead consumers about the supply chain..Are the consumers savvy enough to have any idea that the so called British products they are buying are often made in eastern Europe or India?The only thing British is often the brand.Buying a product with a union jack does not necessarily mean that British people are being employed. It just means one rich guy is making lots of money by using cheap labour. He puts this money in Switzerland and spends the interest on holidays in warmer climates or on German cars..Some British products, like carpets, are very British with local wool, local spinners and weavers.. Others are importing products and calling it British.At the end of the day the average consumer doesn't care. Manchester United fans still think their team is local even when all the top players are imports.. Shove a red shirt on them and they are from Manchester...This leads to... consumers want value, they want things that work. They are not loyal to country of origin.. are they?
