Howver, the 76-year-old Academy Award-winner was recently arrested in Switzerland and now awaits extradition proceedings. Many have sprung to his defense, but excepts of his victim's testimony may dissuade many of his supporters.

Not only does the author have no clue where he's going with it but twice commits the same spelling & grammatical mistake - mentioned because it undermines his meaning and wishy-washy "argument":
excepts of her testimony
Presumably he's trying to say "excerpts from" but its too close to "except for" to call.
