Bill Maher: Climate Change Deniers Are "So Stupid They Make ME Question Evolution" »
Posted By TechnologyExpert 1 month, 3 weeks ago in Political NewsOn "Real Time" Friday night Bill Maher raked climate change skeptics over the coals, particularly those in the GOP, insisting that they must "stop pretending climate change is a future problem." He showed images of Australia with its current host of wildfires, and wondered how those in Southern California would react to such a vista (see above).

How wonderfull, in regards to the two poster (or posers) above. Insted of debating the subject of global warming, lets just insult old Bill and Native Americans. Though I have a hard time seeing why a native American could, or would mate with a buffalo, I have no doubts that you are the offspring of some good old fashion man-sheep mating.

Climate change has been going on as long as we have had measurement tools to look way back in history. What else is new. The global warming is really gone and the garbage that people producing about 3% of the CO2 is causing warming. We have scientist talking again about a new ice age and others predicting warming. The earth average temperature tracks the moon and Mars. The sun is controlling the temperature and there is nothing we can do about it but just live with it.

You're right when you say global climate change is nothing new, but you stop short of telling the whole story. While the global climate has been cycling up and down since the beginning of time, what is happening now is quite different since cycle up we are observing now is exponential. We are seeing cycle changes over decades, and in some cases years, when previously it has always taken CENTURIES.
Reply
When what NORMALLY takes hundreds or thousands of years to take place is suddenly taking place (for the first time in history) over the span of 20 years or less, that is a serious problem. Pretending this is all "normal cyclic climate behavior" is just wrong and NOT supported by the science - except of course by the right's go-to science guy, S. Fred Singer. His oil corporations salary has convinced him to say whatever the his handlers want him to say, but he is a laughingstock in the scientific community.
The fact is, the science doesn't support your claim that its all natural and normal. History refutes this claim by leaps and bounds. Why don't you do a bit of REAL research on it and see how silly your comments are when contrasted to the actual facts of the situation. You're a willing pawn to the big oil companies who want to keep doing business as usual. Are you really so blind that you can't see this fact??? -

"The earth average temperature tracks the moon and Mars."

The fact is we do not have comprehensive data regarding the temperature trends of the moon, much less Mars. Mars has a slightly eccentric orbit which moves the planet closer and further from the sun.
In point of fact, if the sun were the main culprit, we should see a warming in both the lower and upper atmosphere, but this is not the case. The upper atmosphere has shown a cooling trend that is consistent with more heat being trapped in the lower atmosphere.

Perhaps if people learn to ignore Bill Maher, he will simply go away. Thankfully he is only on pay television for the moment so only the kneejerks are supporting him. In fairness though, I did happen to catch an episode where Christopher Hutchins lambasted him and his audience...was a thing of beauty.

go to 'state of knowledge.'
bullet points one and two. OK.
bullet point three four and five are not clearly inter related.
correlation is not causation.
its one thing to continue with the research. its intellectually dishonest to claim virtual certainty.
evolution is a good example. its title is 'the theory of evolution' because, even though it has vast amounts of supporting evidence, there is no outright proof. the theory of evolution IS virtually certain.
the claimants for AGW still don't have important mechanisms nailed down. they say 'virtually certain' when what they should be saying is 'we're pretty sure'. that doesn't pass the reasonable test. when you make political decisions based on 'pretty sure' you're simply asking for it.
all that being said, do i 'believe' in AGW? no. i don't 'believe' in it. the evidence isn't in. you don't find 'belief' and 'science' in the same textbook. -

Maher is an entertainer and nothing but an entertainer. If he really cared about the environment he would support nuclear energy. Very few conservatives dispute global warming. More dispute the degree of human impact there-on. Most dispute the proposed leftist agenda which amounts to a lot of symbolic foolishness and excuses to inflict more damage on our free enterprise system, the destruction of which is the real goal of the current dominant wing of the democratic party.

I agree that nuclear technology is much of the answer to
Global Warming; more than complex cap-and-trade book juggling.
And I like the idea that most conservatives don't
dispute that global warming is occurring.

I am a republican of independent sentiments. I take global warming more seriously than Obama. Obama listens to the scientists only long enough to hear something he can use. Global warming sounds is the kind of crisis Rham Emanuel likes to use as a fulcrum for his policies. The administration sees this as an excuse to widen government power, and people like Maher are the first to fall for it.

Real things could be done to lower carbon footprint and to improve the environment. Obama ignores these and goes for tax increases and new bureaucracies every time.-

I agree cap and trade may not be the best approach, but to claim Obama is ignoring other measures is simply ill informed. Obama got a great deal of crap from the right when he brought up keeping tires appropriately inflated. He has also stressed home weatherization and moving toward compact fluorescents. He has frequently stated that a comprehensive approach to both national energy and CO2 mitigation includes expanding the use of renewables, hybrid and electric-only vehicles and creating a nation-wide 'smart 'electric grid.

Bill Maher is so off kilter he makes me seasick. Had to watch when he had that greasy little pig, Garafolo, on his "panel." She is always good for a laugh. Maher does often have to work very hard to lead his guests to say what he wants to hear, but unfortunately, they often capitulate, or simply do not engage. The funniest thing I witnessed on Mahers' "show" was when he screamed "Americans are ignorant," and his audience wildly applauded. What dolts!

"Believes in man caused climate change but not God."

Well Simon, perhaps he deals more in facts then in myths? A couple of facts for you...
1) Man destroyed most of the great herds that used to roam the earth, like the buffalo.
2) Man destroyed most of the great forests on the planet.
3) Man has polluted all the oceans, lakes and rivers of the planet.
Now Simon, if man can do all this, what makes you think he cannot influence the climate of the planet? The planet may have warmed and cooled in the past, but man had not destroyed the planet's defenses and balance back then, so the point is kind of mute.
Now Simon, i have laid out the effect man has had on this planet. I shall now give you a chance to lay out your proof that God exists, and which God is the real one as i assume that the others do not exist? -

I enjoyed Bill Maher's show during the Bush years, as he would ridicule and satirize that administration's follies. Now, though, there is little criticism of the current administration (except that it's not left enough). The Republicans are still blamed for what is wrong and the President should just dictate what should be done because the people are ignorant.

Bill is a big disappointment in much the same way Rush was when Bush was elected. -

Article: "Just because it's cold today, or even colder in a winter season, doesn't mean the climate isn't changing."
Reply
And then he uses Australian fires to drive his point that climate IS changing! More and more people are getting weary of these climate change deniers who live with their heads in the sand! They constantly deny the fact that climate is in a constant state of change just like it was untold millions of years ago. They turn a blind eye to the fact that much of North America used to be buried under mountains of ice and that at another time Greenland used to be "green". When presented with evidence that the earth constantly fluctuates and cycles between warmer and colder times, they go into total denial that such a thing could have any effect temperatures today. They either deny that the climate has EVER changed in the past, or, believe that what was happening through the last billion years or more, suddenly stopped about 200 years ago. They are convinced that if the earth has "warmed" by half a degree over the last century, then it CAN'T be the climate at work, it must be man made "pollution" (natural CO2 gasses) causing it. These climate change deniers are so fanatical in their new "religion" that the are willing to devastate the world economy and even the environment to push their politically driven head-in-the-sand agenda. One crazy scam (scheme) been pushed is "Cloud Ships". (Look them up). Almost two THOUSAND special ships will sail the seas converting water into vast amounts of clouds in an attempt to block the sun and cool the earth. If successful, this could do more harm than good. Also, they are, once again, in total denial of the fact that water vapour is the largest, most extensive "greenhouse gas" by far. Hugely more than the CO2 content. Are they trying heat the place up??? It's time for them to wake up, get out of denial and look to the facts. And reality. -

In Northern Pa. where I recently visited vast areas are being deforested to provide space for a wind farm which is being built in a hurry with obsolete technology in order to qualify for subsidies. This counter-productive effort at decreasing CO2 will cost us millions in tax money and disrupt the quality of life for those who chose to live in once-beautiful Bradford County.
