Interesting that this article doesn't address a fundamental issue....studies have shown that Hep C patients have a higher incidence of diabetes. Chicken or the egg? Since the liver processes over 4000 functions a day in support of the metabolism and hormones, did the Hep C cause the metabolic syndrome or did the syndrome increase the side effects of the Hep C?

I would theorize that those with increased metabolic problems were just showing signs of a reduced ability to control the hepatitis C virus through normal immune responses.
Managing the chronic nature of a lifelong living virus is imperative to living longer. The healthcare industry is woefully lacking on teaching patients how...and also has three times the infection rate per studies.
