Next Pope Black? »
Posted By newsguy2005 2 months, 3 weeks ago in ReligionForget communion wafers and wine. It could be chitlins and Colt 45 at your local Catholic mass in the future, as a prominent African cardinal says the election of Barack Obama to President of the United States means the next Pope could be Black.

The conservatives work so hard.
Reply
They put Steele in as figurehead of the GOP;
- and then make him wax Rush's car.
They calmly argue that it is the liberals
that are racists; Obama hates them .
And they train themselves to shout
"Ouch! I've been called a racist! Oh the pain I'm
a victim!"
till you avoid the whole subject, - which is their point.
And then, along comes a genius like Newsguy,
- and pulls the handgrenade pin to pick his
nose with.
I know what you are thinking; but, no.
We don't pay the fools to do this.
They do it for free . -

Actually, African converts to Catholicism are highly traditional. And Africans don't eat chitlins or drink Colt 45. The quoted statement above is preposterous.
This post is a disgrace and deserves to be grounded.-

i agree.

even the african anglicans are much more traditional than american episcopalians.
as to the racist gastronomical reference, that's not just disrespectful, it's unbelievably insensitive, as it ignores the misery and hunger experienced by human beings in africa.
i would be as happy to see an african pope as i am to see the 2016 games go to rio.
one observation:
this is the kind of opinion piece that goes mainstream and lowers the quality of debate all around. -

I agree with you on this one. The greatest growth area for Catholicism is in central to southern Africa, so it would not be a surprise to see an African as a Pope in the near future. And if the Anglican-Presbyterian brouhaha is any indication, they are even more conservative than the current group that is in charge.

Newsguy should know better, but he had to have thought about what he was posting on the net.

The comment was no doubt racist to the extreme and it should not be tolerated.

There is no reason why a black can't be the head of any organization and the chitterlings and Colt 45 Comment,,,, well that says it all doesn't it? It's not funny, it's not cool, it doesn't elevate your cause (unless you are elevating the KKK mindset, which is impossible to do). GEEEEZE -

So what.
The point here is that this is a sick little racist bit of crap;
- and is a line drawn for you to cross if you want to even
pretend to be a moral person.
Do it;
- or not.
But don't bother pretending the line is not there.

One good thing came out of this story, it made me start culling out many of those on my friends list which this News Guy was one (It appears that Jovial has been right about saying he was a racist). I don't like racists and he was the first to go, the others were eight old, or I really had to think if I even know them,,,,,,, I have many more to go though. -

Dio, it would have been so refreshing to not hear everyone in the GOP painted with the broad brush of racism. But alas it was just too tempting for you wasn't it? Yes there are still knuckle heads in the GOP that are racists, as I'm sure there are in the party of D. But for once can we just call out the racism we see and not blame every single individual in a group or organizations when these things show up?
