Posted By jovial 2 months ago in Political OpinionIf Sarah Palin had been trying to get the 2016 summer games for Alaska, would it have been wrong if she took the state Greyhound Bus to Denmark? No one would have complained until she announced that she would try again next year to bring the 2017 games to Alaska.

"Then, when the Internet was invented I, like millions of Americans, found myself searching websites for" Who said porn? No, I was hanging out in the Louvre and checking out items from the Vatican library. I began to read newspapers from all over the world. That's when it all started to go bad and began to spiral out of control. American news sites started cutting the good stuff with infotainment. I just couldn't get off on it anymore, and I started going into withdrawal."
Yes, where can you go to get the real news now? It seems you have to go to overseas sites and look. Or maybe you'll get lucky and find some courageous journalist that will break a good story like that New York Times guy that broke those additional sordid details on our Senator from Nevada.-

The internet is a two-edged sword. Like other media it is prone to "monopolistic practices" and to use for propaganda purposes (e.g. trying to drown out information through sheer volume).

Apart from that, much of the "information" is subject to zero quality control and much of the previously accumulated knowledge of mankind (books - in libraries) has never made it to the internet. There is no substitute to reading real books and real academic journals if you want reliable, verifiable information.

Funny you should ask.

Reading real books and journals -yes.
But I do believe that the Internet is the most important of all the current Media. It is there for everyone, and when the liars and spinners get going, so do the truth seekers. Yes there are people on here who never look at a link - and yet call that link a lie. People like this question who is stuck on stupid.
The good thing about the Internet is the ease of obtaining information. And for every lie or spun article out there, there is an article relaying the simple truth. Truth can always stand the test of inquiry. -

Wolfie reaps what she sows. If she were to use her head once in a while and think ...maybe she wouldn't get kicked around. Think about it ... she gets off on sinking music submissions and human interest stories. people can only ignore stupid for so long, then they react to it.

My favorite line in the oped - "No one would have complained until she announced that she would try again next year to bring the 2017 games to Alaska."

This story is spot on about what is "considered" news and what really IS news. MSM has a penchant for elevating the mundane to celebrity status while passing on those items which might really affect us. Entertainment has become KING and reality has been dumped for word games.
Interesting. This is my 4th posting of the same thing, but the other 3 are considered spam!
