It's so far into the Mojave Desert, that some have wondered if any would even know about it, if litigation had not been brought forth. It's known as the "Mojave Cross," and the Supreme Court, whose new term just began, will hear a case on it.

It should be call Freedom from Religion, becuase it prohibits the establishment of a state religion. However since this was erected in 1934 for Vet of WWI suffering from lung disease, before this was federal land, it should be grandfathered in and no other religious monument be erected along side it.

They may actually have to rule on the legality of the US government controlling land not for defense purposes or for the capital area of the nation. Maybe the states will get back the vast areas wrongfully taken from them by US government, for unconstitutional purposes. So the cross issue may be of no real importance, but the governments control of the land may.
