The Nobel committee has its own criteria for selecting winners, based on Alfred Nobel's will. They voted for someone who fulfills the criteria.

Here's a video of the Secretary of the Norwegian Nobel Committee explaining why the Committee feels awarding the 2009 Peace Prize to Obama adhered closely to the wishes of Alfred Nobel:

Feel free to set up your own endowment for an annual Buckncindykill Peace Prize if you disagree.-

Fulfills the criteria? Ha!!

Nobel set up the criteria as follows:
1. the award is given specifically for an action performed in the previous year,
or
2. for service to peace over an extended period.
If you believe he fits either of this criteria...........well uh.......there certainly is no constitutional amendment against ignorance.-

Let me tell you. From the Nobel Prize website:
On 27 November 1895, Alfred Nobel signed his last will and testament, giving the largest share of his fortune to a series of prizes, the Nobel Prizes. As described in Nobel's will, one part was dedicated to "the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses". [emphasis mine]

Simply speaking about multilateral diplomacy and reducing nuclear weapons, as the Norwegian Nobel Committee has said, fullfills those criteria.
