Not a surprise, or a shock... Taco Bell actually tests a lot of different things around the US. They actually successfully tested computerized ordering/payment systems about 20 years ago.

The best test product was a series of seasoned french fries that were made as various mexican-inspired plates, like chili fries, cheese fries, etc...
All of the test stuff is done at corporate owned restaurants.
