'Daily Show' Destroys CNN For Fact-Checking 'SNL' Instead Of Their Guests (VIDEO) »

Posted By bluetexasvalley 1 month, 2 weeks ago in Humor

Jon Stewart began his show last night by skewering CNN for fact checking a "Saturday Night Live" skit in which Fred Armisen (playing Barack Obama) claimed to have done "nothing" since taking office. In this hard hitting report, CNN found that while many of the president's initiatives have not moved forward, he has in fact done "something" since taking office. Take that, comedy show.

    FTA:
"While you were doing your research did you also find that sharks live in water and don't deliver candy grams...and that the majority of boxes do not have d*cks in them?" Stewart asked. He went on to show several instances of CNN guests saying spurious things and introducing made-up statistics without being asked where their numbers came from or countered with facts.

I certainly hope someone from CNN watched this.

I'd have to agree with the context of this article. Well done.

        Thanks BlueTexasValley.

This is a well to the point article. Thanks you for posting it. And if you are like me you usually go on to read some of the other articles posted at the site, especially those that go along with the context of this article.

If any of you missed the over weight baby denied insurance or the Opt-Out compromise story, be sure to go back and read them.

What we need is an option to what we have. I think the most protective of we the people would be a public option to compete with Insurance Companies for one reason if nothing else:

The Insurance Companies would have to give us a better deal than the Public Option to continue to exist. YOu can bet that they want to continue to exist because of the obscene profits they have been pulling in. That's why the the Insurance Companies and their Lobbyists have been as active as a stirred up hornet's nest spreading hundreds of millions of dollars into Media ads to try to scare the people into turning off the Public Option.

Looks like they are going to be successful.

Why we realize we have been stupid, do you think we will try to blame the bought Politicians or will we realistically blame ourselves?

As I said on another thread this morning, there is a real price for doing nothing, a lessor price for doing good reform and a highest price for turning down the best deal - Public Option.

I think this is a good example of a big difference between liberals and conservatives (to use the team names). I am guessing that if you asked the average conservative the response would be that the Daily show (along with the rest of television) is liberal biased.

However, here is a member of the liberal media slamming a CNN show that was over zealous in defended the president (not a news stations job).

The liberal/conservative difference here is that John Stewert (definitely liberal) is willing to point out ANYONE who is being ridiculous, ignorant or misleading even if they agree with him. I don't see many (if any) conservative doing the same thing. I think it is dangerous if anyone doesn't question BOTH parties on any issue.

        Anyone have thoughts on this?

I must say my opinion of Jon Stewart has improved slightly. Kudos to him.

Its intersting if you want to learn about whats going on you're better informed watching a comedy show then watching "the news". He points out the ridiculous stances anyone takes.

          bluetexasvally,

Thanks for the invite. I watched this episode last night and was just cracking up! Of course, it is both sad and hilarious that this is even a topic of discussion.

It just goes to show the arrogance of these so called news shows that they manipulate information and their audiences without thinking about how they come across to the intelligent viewer.

it has always amazed me how the research staffs of the daily show and the colbert report are FAR superior to the research staffs of all the "actual" news shows.

That was SO good! And that's why I stopped watching CNN on to three years ago now. They would give some goof ball the 'last word', and his or her last word would be absolutely ludicrous.....then the commentator would say they were out of time!! Of course the ridiculous remarks were left dangling there, for observers to grab onto and repeat, because NO ONE was acting like a journalist and checking on the facts! DANG! Sooooo frustrating!! And over a period of several days I sat and watched, counting that in every instance that 'last word' was given to a conservative.
