    FTA:
The group was arrested for trespassing.

A DEA spokeswoman referred comment to the Department of Justice "because they're the people who set the policy for drugs." A DOJ spokeswoman declined to comment.

Hemp, however, is not a drug and has no capacity to get someone stoned, the farmers pointed out. Wayne Hauge and Will Allen, farmers from North Dakota and Vermont respectively, brought shovels and seeds to the protest, where they were joined by representatives of Vote Hemp, which advocates for federal legislation that would allow states to craft their own hemp policies.

Currently eight states -- Hawaii, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Montana, North Dakota, Vermont, and West Virginia -- allow industrial hemp production or research, but federal law, which requires nearly-impossible-to-obtain-permits to grow hemp, trumps those state laws. A bill introduced by Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) and Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) would allow states to craft their own policies.

This is nuts. Hemp is not a drug. Hemp won't get you 'high.' Hemp is a natural product that can be used to manufacture clothing, rope, paper, food, fuel, non toxic paints and varnishes, archival paper, cement, roofing, insulation, flooring........and thousands of other applications. It isn't picky about soil, actually improves soil structure, & doesn't need chlorine in the manufacture of paper. For food, it contains protein, fiber and essential fatty acids. Bugs aren't crazy about it, and it doesn't need toxins dumped on it during its growth cycle. For god's sake! Will we ever get smart about this?
Making hemp illegal keeps the cotton and corn farmers from losing $$$. It also keeps the coffers full for the industries that destroy our forests here and throughout the world. WTH is wrong with us? Why do we tolerate this?

Definitely a publicity stunt. But since Obama pledged to stop wasting federal tax dollars on the DEA's heartless policy of raiding medical marijuana patients and caregivers in states where it is legal,it only makes sense that his directive should also apply to states where hemp farming has been legalized.

Really, the US drug policy is set by UN treaties. Drugs can be decriminalized, with penalties required, but they can NEVER be "legal" while the US is signed to the treaty.

But I'll give the props to Bonner, the soap guy. He uses some hemp oil in his soap, and they are awesome for all-natural. It's good to see someone who sells so much imported hemp oil to want the huge amounts required to be grown in the US, and bring back solid agricultural work and products - the kind that have built america for more than 200 years.

Dupont is who made millions off the criminalization of hemp. Funny how Nylon rope came out at the same time hemp was being outlawed. Money will get you anything you want in this world, and it has come back on the American people for allowing our leaders and media to brainwash us! Hemp for Fuel!

This is an article published in Popular Mechanics in 1938 describing the promise of hemp farming. It was written unknowingly after hemp was quietly banned by crooked govt officials in the pocket of Dupont and the cotton and timber industries...

The big mistake made here was showing up to protest with only 10 people instead of 10,000. Now if they had publicized the rally, and made their mantra "Legalize hemp....and pot," they could have stormed the DEA office.
