Honored, Humbled, Yet Unsure? »
Posted By btatman22 2 months, 1 week ago in Political OpinionPresident Barack Obama, upon hearing that he had won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize, responded by saying he was both "honored and humbled." He then went on to tell reporters in the White House Rose Garden that he, "...wasn't sure he had done enough to earn the award, or deserved to be in the company of the transformative figures who had won it before him." Barack Obama's uncertainty as to whether he earned the prize indicated that in his own mind, there was a possibility he might have...

Considering the length of time his predecessor worked (or maybe ignored) it, he still has some time to go.

Not to suggest that it is right or wrong, it is to suggest that it is the way things are and have been. If you have supported others following this path, should you not support the current process? If you have not supported others, then you are perfectly right to complain. My guess is that may be a point of conflict.
Afghanistan should have been directive #1 from the beginning. For 4 years, it was nothing but an after thought because a *bigger* prize was dazzling the eyes of those in power in our government. Our government should learn to finish something before committing our resources to something else. The current policy (which are those of the previous admin) will only lead to all the efforts suffering and being unsuccessful. -

"Obama has been working on Afghanistan since last March - what is his problem?"

It's been 6 or so months. If you're expecting ANYONE to solve or completely address the problem of Afghanistan, which is an incredibly complexly woven problem, in 6 months you're even more stupid than I imagined. And I imagined you to be pretty damn stupid.

"Obama has successfully maneuvered himself into the most powerful position of leadership in the world, deficient in credentials and experience. If a resume submission were required to be considered for the job of President, Barack Obama would have been laughed out of consideration."

It makes me a sad poster when I see all the people hating that Obama got the prize. Our democratically elected president got an important (by that I mean internationally renowned)award.

Those in the knee jerk opposition either:
1. don't support the democratic process (which elected Obama)
2. hate everyone outside our country
either of those options scare me, especially when one side of the debate is statistically more likely to own a gun, follow the marching orders of their pary, and dislike those not like them.

Unlike Bush... he is not jumping into the fire. Imagine what it would be like today if Iraq never happened. For close to 100k people that are not alive today, i would say it would be an enjoyable thought. that that 100k people and imagine how many lives were affected by their death. something to think about... take a few minutes and imagine.
