Anita Dunn: Why is being a fan of Mao more acceptable than being a fan of Hitler? »

Hitler sought to exterminate a whole race of citizen. Mao decided to exterminate all of his citizens, or at least significant classes of citizenry, driving many to suicide to avoid ritualistic violence at the hands of Mao’s red brigade. Mao’s response? “China is such a populous nation, it is not as if we cannot do without a few people.”
Mao’s political and philosophical writings read like Hitler’s Mein Kampf. He drove the educated classes to starvation. Kids were put in charge of adults. Educated workers were forced to work in fields. He fostered a cult of personality that affects China even today.
She describes Mao as not just her favorite political philosopher, but one of the “two people I turn to most.” The other, tragically or humorously depending on your frame of mind, being Mother Teresa. I can bet you that between the two it is not Mother Teresa who Anita Dunn looks to for guidance on abortion policy.
How in God’s name is it acceptable for the woman in charge of the White House’s communications shop to declare Hitler her favorite philosopher? The answer is that it is not. Why then is Mao acceptable?

White House communications director Anita Dunn fired back at criticism from TV commentator Glenn Beck on Friday, saying that a Mao Tse-tung quote Beck took issue with was picked up from legendary GOP strategist Lee Atwater.

...former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, also a Fox News contributor, quoted Mao in a 1995 Roll Call profile.
"War is politics with blood; politics is war without blood," Gingrich said, citing Mao.
Karl Rove, another Fox News contributor, wrote in a December 2008 Wall Street Journal op-ed that President Bush "encouraged me to read a Mao biography."

What are you trying to convince people of, Prog? That it is O.K. for Anita Dunn to have Mao as ;her favorite philosopher because some Republicans have quoted him? It looks like that is what you are trying to say, and if so, that is a red herring to make her look morally equivalent to Gingrich, Rove, etc, or anybody else who quoted Mao. Quoting someone, studying someone is not the same as declaring them your favorite philosopher. Good leaders study their adversaries to gauge how to interact with them. Remember the old quote: Know thine enemy.

In Chile ... Augusto Pinochet murdered thousands of Liberals ...as many as he could find ... if any were female and pregnant ... he had the babies extracted and given to 'acceptable Rightists' ... to be raised as 'Rightists'.

In El Salvador ... Right Wing Death Squads were murderous and out of control - even murdering 3 American nuns - in addition to murdering thousands of peasants and Leftist opponents. The United States actively supported the military junta during this period ... from Jimmy Carter to Ronald Reagan.
And no list of mass murderers would be complete without Francisco Franco and Pol Pot.

Wal*Mart came up with this idea that Americans would gladly give over to China ... their ENTIRE Manufacturing sector ... in exchange for Everyday Low Prices.
So ... if it upsets you that we are supporting a nation founded by a Communist and Murderer ... you should take your complaint to Wal*Mart ... ... and of course ... ... to American Business in general for selling out.
Here's an interesting story about how Wal*Mart's decision to support Communist China has impacted American companies.

Did she say that she didn't say she looked to mao for guidence and respect or did she say that since someone disagreeded with her and used a phrase, that what she said was OK but if you disagree with her then you are really the communist killer.

As far as being the communications person, she might not make policy, but she does have the ear of the president and can make him make policies that are against the US and Pro China. -

goopy.......Gee.. your comments on bush invading Iraq causing thousands of deaths for no reason seem to be a far stretch..was it just me.. or were there a couple of towers in new york that were attacked buy your friends from the middle east...there-- -fore you are saying we had no reason to invade iraq..only problem here is we did not kill as many as we should have..in iraq-- iran-- afganistan.. blanket bombing from the beginning would have ended thin war 4 years ago..it is endeed the only thing these muslims understand...
