While the GOP base was feverishly opposed to Obama, it wasn't happy with its own party either. "Their negative opinions of the Republican Party were really startling," said Agne. "They're very dispirited about their own party."
The report concludes that the extreme GOP voters are not simply at the far end of a standard political continuum that runs left-center-right, but rather they stand fully apart.
The basic belief is that Obama -- a former community organizer who seemingly came from nowhere -- must have been propelled by some secret forces. This is no small segment of the population and represents almost one-in-five voters and nearly two-of-three self identified Republicans.-

I think it's important to know that the roots of Modern Republicanism has real, tangible roots in a philosophical Ideology.
Reply
And this Ideology was created by a University of Chicago Philosopher named Leo Strauss.
I also think it's important to note that the Bush administration's principle 'thinkers' ... were devotees of this 'Straussian' Philosophy.
One of the central themes of the ideology ... is to unite people around you through deft use of creating FEAR.
If one doesn't believe that the Modern GOP employs tactics based on this philosophy ... all you have to do is remember Ronald Reagan's admonishment of The Old Soviet Union as .... "An Evil Empire" .... and George W. Bush's admonishment of "The Axis of Evil".
.
Here is a link to info about Leo Strauss.

Note ... the central theme of the Right's Philosophy is ... "Control of the Masses".
.
They are well on their way to this goal with their control of FOX News.

I had seen this story yesterday and later in the day saw a post here by Tasine about Obama signing some treaty that was going to give up our rights as a sovereign nation. It clearly supported the findings of this study. The only thing I disagree with the study on is the idea that racism isn't a major player. I feel that there is a deep seated racial or ethnic component to the conspiracy theories. They don't show on the surface as nobody wants to openly talk about these things with strangers. They do make it quite a bit easier to build the conspiracy theories however.

Yes .. I agree that the Ideology is crazy. But I also believe that some are simply racist.
Reply
For instance, does anyone think that a representative from SOUTH CAROLINA ... would have yelled out 'YOU LIE' ... to a white president?

Gotta hand it to you for staying on point. Yes, all opposition to Obama is racist. All debate is racist. Objecting to being called a racist is racist. Only racists would object to a racist being called a racist. Those racist racists are acting like racist racists when those racists do racially racist things.
See how I've skillfully avoided debating the facts? Debating the facts is racist! -

Some Right Wing Members of Propeller believe their Ideology has it's roots in Ayn Rand. You see some members extoll the virtues of "Objectivism" pretty regularly.

There a story right now on Propeller about it.

The problem with Ayn Rand was that she was completely unwilling to accept criticism, even from her own people. While creative people who come up with new ideas should reap the benefits of their discoveries, most of the rich in America don't fall into that category. Most were born into rich families and, like our former Presidnet, protected from their mistakes. Most of the highest earning Americans are managers of other people fortunes.
Reply
Ayn Rand is talking about a fictional American that doesn't exist. Most inventors and discoverers of new ideas get ripped off by the big money people. -

These are just Limbots. Rush said "I hope he fails" and now the ditto heads are lining up with predictable obedience. This is what is referred to as a cult. As with most cults, their members can't be reasoned with. Once they have sacrificed their autonomy and independence to the likes of Limbaugh and Beck, they are on auto pilot.

No doubt the Democrat (what an unbiased group) "researchers" didn't "figure" they'd find "evidence" of "racism"; they wanted desperately to "prove" Conservatives were racist. Unsurprisingly, they failed to do so. So they came up with a different charge. Never anything positive. I believe what Conservatives can learn from this is fairly straightforward and doesn't need to be spelled out. -

True FNC is slanted, or prejudice if you prefer, to a certain point of view; do they make things up to suit their agenda, 'ya think'.

But then again Rick Sanchez of CNN did find some racist comments that were never spoken by Rush.

From the report:

"And yet remarkably, these voters had virtually nothing positive to say about the Republican
Party. They see their own party as weak, old, and out of touch. They feel it has lost sight of
conservative values and conservative voters and is in desperate need of new leadership. They
identified a clear disconnect between ‘the people’ and ‘the politicians,’ which poses a growing
threat to the party’s ability to challenge Democratic control in Washington."
Sound like a bunch of cranks and malcontents to me.
"The lionization of Ronald Reagan in these groups was as
strong as we have seen for any political figure, as was the desperate desire for a new Reaganesque
figure to lead them out of their current wilderness."
How about Tony Dow, Jerry Mathers, or Leave it to Beaver? They're kinda stuck there in Pleasantville anyway.-

It has just been reported that Congress is raiding the money budgeted to support our military, to date taking $2.6 BILLION. They are using the funds set aside for our military in order to pay for their pet PORK projects, and impress their constituents in order to gain re-election. While Obama dithers about whether or not to give his handpicked General what he needs to do the job he has been ordered to do, Congress raids the military piggybank. This is not only despicable, it is COLD BLOODED MURDER.

Oh may GOD IN HEAVEN!!
THAT IS SUCH GOOD NEWS!!!!!!!
Just think ... the Right Wing ... blathering on about how they hate spending ... have DEMANDED ever increasing spending on Military Contractors!
Right now ... OUR nation spends roughly the same amount on the military ... AS THE REST OF THE WORLD .... COMBINED!!!
We spend roughly ONE TRILLION DOLLARS a year on the military.
ONE TRILLION
By contrast ... China spends $65 Billion ... Russia $50 Billion ... and France $45 Billion.
But the SPEND CRAZY Right Wing DEMANDS EVER MORE SPENDING.
God ... this is GREAT NEWS FOR OUR COUNTRY.
Perhaps the Insanity is FINALLY going to be held in CHECK!
Maybe we can close some of the hundreds of military outpost scattered all over the world!
Just think ... if we cut 250 BILLION from our spending on the military .... we could ERADICATE THE NATIONAL DEBT IN 4 YEARS!
THIS IS SUCH GOOD NEWS!!!!
SUCH GOOD NEWS.
Oh wait ... hmmm .... something tells me this won't amount to much .... FOX will likely mount a campaign against reducing our debt.
Glenn Beck will call President Obama a traitor.
Rush Limbaugh will whine about how Obama wants to kill our soldiers.
And the Congress will be cowed into INCREASING spending on the military.
....
...
..
.
sigh ... back to reality.

Well I hate to burst your military bubble but the the MIC routinely rapes the government with their appropriately bought off congressional folk in full foot-stomp. In the past 15 years, the military has never bought anything that the contractor originally bargained for; cost overruns invariably jack up pricing. If you are familiar with the city of Boston, just think of the military as the general contractor for the Big Dig. It's a pretty good example of how crappy the system is.

Believing Obama was propelled by some secret forces is bizarre ideology?
Bizarre is not thinking twice about the fact that 42 of our last 43 presidents were all related. It's a bizarre ideology to believe in the statistically impossible coincidence theory that we picked him out of the blue.
