John Bolton Suggests Nuclear Attack on Iran »
Posted By tehranchik 1 month, 2 weeks ago in Political OpinionThis Friday, the American Enterprise Institute will host an event addressing the question “Should Israel attack Iran?” The event includes, among others, Iran uberhawk Michael Rubin and infamous “torture lawyer” John Yoo, but the real star is likely to be John Bolton, the former U.N. ambassador whose right-of-Attila views left him an outcast even within the second Bush administration. (Bolton was eventually forced out when it became clear that he would be unable to win Senate confirmation for the U.N. post.)

I recognize that many, believing Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to be a man of honesty and integrity because he denies the Holocaust, also believe that Iran is developing nuclear power for peaceful purposes.

Just can't bring on The Apocalypse fast enough, can we? Well go on, what the hell, let's light up a few nukes in the Middle East and get the party started. After global nuclear winter settles down, if there are enough human survivors maybe humanity can start rebuilding Civilization, only this time women will make all the important decisions.

I recognize that many, believing that our government needs to go around bombing, invading, toppling, overthrowing ... whoever, whenever, wherever ... but especially as a pre-emptive attack ... ... sometimes simply to consolidate their own political base (GW & Iraq) ... ...

Did we really develop all those nuclear weapons for nothing? Are you serious that we will never get to use them ever again? Are we really going to let the world see us being pushed around by weasels like Ahmadinejad? Please say we will be able to demonstrate our might to the world at least one more time by nuking a country to oblivion, and make the world quake in fear of our rightuosness.

No, I don't think that would be a good idea. Did bolton consider what would happen to the troops in Iraq if we did that, or would he view them as "collateral damage?" He does know that the majority in Iraq are Shiites, and so are Iranians.....right?

No, I think it would be best if Americans first became a might more educated on this so the power mongers could no longer run around instilling fear and pretty much doing what they damn well please. Best to look at their motives beyond what they want Americans to believe. Yeah, that's a good place to start. -

I don't think israel would use a nuke on iran it has other conventional weapons and its probable the fall out of radiation would affect the whole region, america is working on a new bunker buster bomb that most surely will go to israel !

When Bolton is ready to admit that Israel is more dangerous than Iran and better armed Then I will listen. When Bolton has a plan to disarm both Israel and Iran then I will listen.

Iran gets criticized for threatening to destroy Israel. Yet Israel has already destroyed Palestine. Modern zionist neocons (some falsely claiming to be conservative) have already re-written their own history to claim that Palestine never existed. Others simply say Palestine was their promised land and they had every right to move in and expel the Palestinians.
So my question is, which is worse, threatening to destroy a country or actually doing it? -

This is why a nuclear nonproliferation treaty is so important to achieve.

Yes, there will always be "crazies" in the world who are ready and willing to drop that bomb if they get it, and it's proving more and more that a lot of the "crazies" aren't from any obscure Third World, either.....where is John Bolton from again?
But as for the whole Iran(Arab) vs Israeli(Jew) conflict and how that unending conflict affects the world at large....yes, Iran is a threat to Israel, but try and keep it in perspective, and try to remember it's not completely one sided. Iran isn't the threat to world domination that we seem to want to believe they are. If they are threatening Israel, then let ISRAEL deal with them. It's not our responsibility to babysit the whole entire world. It's time we back off, focus on the wars we are ALREADY involved in, and let Israel deal with Iran as Israel wishes. They have the army and resources to do it without dragging America along with them. And honestly, it seems like NEITHER side really wants peace in that region. Neither seem willing to concede an inch without the ability to declare a total victory over their enemies. So why do we constantly intervene? There are no real "victims" in that feud anymore. Both are willing and ready to annihilate their enemies, regardless of whatever peace is brokered between them. Frankly, considering their collective attitudes and mutual unwillingness to honestly squash the attacks between them, it's on them...and it's not worth ONE American life to stop them anymore. When THEY are willing to stop, they will.....just like Northern Ireland. In the end, the willingness to stop the bloodshed had to come from within. Outside influences helped, but not until THEY were ready did the killings stop. It's the same with all religious/ethnic/cultural wars. Outsiders CAN'T end it...only the participants can. -

Is this the guy with the bleached mustache who has never been in the firing line or even served his country in the military? See here John it is time to don those fatigues and get used to military discipline instead of being your usual persona a self serving gobshite [That's Liverpool Slang, not obscene as you may think}.

It's actually not a mustache; it's the mummified carcass of a rare woolly caterpillar indigenous to the Western Amazon Basin, which Bolton had mounted on his upper lip in 1985 and has never removed. In person, if you look close while he isn't moving, you can see the little black feet hanging out from underneath. It's reported to be quite unsettling to those who take meetings with him.

Israel also will be signing its own death warrant as well because entire world will look at Israel or the US with suspicion and then revenge afterward because Muslim world is not Japan just to let it go. And these countries will be in the list of axis of evil. Not only that using nuclear weapon is unthinkable, only a devil possessed nations would consider that or even suggest that. Now we all know who these devil possessed countries are. I have no doubt these two countries are going to bring on themselves the destruction sooner or later because there are two many Zionist nuts out there.

I agree with you on the Iran part, but what choice is that nut case over there leaving us? No one except the crazies over there in the middle east want world war 3 as they want their "mahdi" to arrive ASAP so they could care less. If you know someone wants to take you out what the hell are you gonna do about it ? Invite him over for dinner ? It's kill or be killed. Are you gonna defend yourself ? Or are you just gonna sit there and wait and see what happens ? You can't negotiate a peace treaty with someone who has a death wish. It's that simple !

Whats all the fuss about people ? Lets just do it the way the liberals would prefer. Lets wait until Israel or a US city is destroyed and if or when we find the perps, we can make sure they get a fair trial along with their prayer rugs and 3 squares a day. That way if we're nice they won't want to attack us again and we can all live happily ever after. I have one simple question for all you obviously insane liberals. How would everyone respond if our President, former or current went on record as saying that a certain nation will soon cease to exist and should be wiped off the map like Iran's leader said about Israel ? If Bush had said that about Iran you'd all be up in arms and you know it, but it's OK for that nut case in Iran to publicly say just that and we hear not a peep from the left. All you libs are certifiably nuts ! That is the only conclusion one can come to. If a crazy leader makes such threats you must take him for his word. Those crazies over there in the middle east are the ones who want to rush in the "mahdi" with their quick desire to the end, not us. I say lets give them an express trip to their "paradise" that doesn't exist as they will surely find out when they rot in hell !

No conservative American will dress up excuses
for a nuclear body count as 'pre-emptive war to prevent war'.
Those who weary us with their idiot justifications,
- are seldom soldiers; and are never moral.
They willingly confuse ruthlessness with strength;
war with security,
and sanity with weakness.
They make us less safe ,
and stain our flag with their poison.
Let them get the hell away from my country. -

OK, so I didn't read the story just the heading and most of the comments, and it really leaves me wondering about a few things, some have commented that Israel should bomb Iran because their leader has stated that he wants Israel gone and they have a nuclear program that will possibly give them the weapon to do so. That means their the bad guys. Now we have an American addressing a meeting and he proposes that a nuclear strike be carried against Iran before it can get the bomb, and that makes us the good guys, I'm sure there is some logic there somewhere but I just can't see it.

Now for the more important part of this from the way I see it. Iran does pose a threat to Israel, but also Iran has OIL, so in the long run there will be certain people who would like to see Iran as a friend or maybe someone who can be exploited and these people believe that is done by military might, the dangerous part of this thinking comes from many other parties which are present in Iran, the two that come to mind are Russia and China who have vested interests in Iran.
I hope in his eagerness to carry out a nuclear attack against Iran for the sake of Israel, John Bolton does not over look a much larger picture. -

I don't get it, why can't we just drop it. Why do we have to start a World War III. Didn't we lose enough already and can't we the Americans stop thinking about wars and just caring about our own country. Cmon people we have a 10% unemployment rate in our own country and does anyone even realize how much it costs to fight a war.

I don't think we as Americans want any other Pearl Harbor, or 9/11.
