I've got you deep in the heart of me
So deep in my heart
You're nearly a part of me
I've got you under my skin
I have tried so not to give in
I have said to myself this affair
Never gonna go somewhere
But why should I try to resist
When baby I know so well
That I've got you under my skin

People who work in political communications have pointed out that it is a principle of power dynamics to “punch up “ — that is, to take on bigger foes, not smaller ones. A blog on the White House Web site that uses a “truth-o-meter” against a particular cable news network would not seem to qualify. As it is, Reality Check sounds a bit like the blog of some unemployed guy living in his parents’ basement, not an official communiqué from Pennsylvania Avenue.
The anti-Fox strategy makes zero sense considering that (a) the public thinks the media is too liberal, which Fox uses to frame itself as a needed corrective, and (b) Fox’s most high-profile competition, such as it is, spent a fair chunk of the Bush years screaming about fascism and insisting that Roger Ailes runs a more dangerous organization than Osama Bin Laden. Not a good match-up. I assume the Fox-baiting is simply red meat they’re throwing to liberals to try to take the heat off on Afghanistan and “don’t ask, don’t tell,”-

lol, it would seem that this is fox playing 'media circus' through self described victimization, and you're just humming their tune.
the way i see it, axelrod and emmanuel are just treating fox the way everyone should...as a mock news organization, and a political mouthpiece for the pseudo populists in the gop.

Whiner-In-Chief
The Obama administration really needs to get over itself.
First, the president and his aides go to war with Fox News because the network maintains a generally anti-Obama slant.
Then, an anonymous administration aide attacks bloggers for failing to maintain a sufficiently pro-Obama slant.
These are not disconnected developments.
An administration that won the White House with an almost always on-message campaign and generally friendly coverage from old and new media is now frustrated by its inability to control the debate and get the coverage it wants.
But before the president and his inner circle go all Spiro Agnew on us, they might want to consider three fundamental facts regarding relations between the executive branch and the fourth estate:-

I think somebody is forgetting the manner in which the Bush Machine even worked to blacklist and fire certain journalists (hint: refer to the pieces of Dan Rather you keep liking to mention...the one that got him fired and you have discredited yet oddly the same one you seem to delusionally claim proves Bush volunteered for Vietnam)

pretending has traditionally been a valuable part of the presidential playbook. Smiling and wearing beige even under the most withering news media assault is not only good manners, but also has generally been good politics. While there is undoubtedly a visceral thrill in finally setting out after your antagonists, the history of administrations that have successfully taken on the media and won is shorter than this sentence.
the administration, by deploying official resources against a troublesome media organization, seems to have brought a knife to a gunfight. -

White House criticism of Fox increasing ratings: Murdoch
News Corp. chairman Rupert Murdoch said on Friday that White House criticism of commentators on his Fox News television channel had served to "tremendously" increase their ratings.
"There were some strong remarks coming out of the White House about one or two of the commentators on Fox News," Murdoch told the annual meeting of News Corp. shareholders here.
"And all I can tell you is that it's tremendously increased their ratings," he said.
Murdoch's remarks came after White House Communications Director Anita Dunn told The New York Times earlier this week that Fox News was "undertaking a war against Barack Obama and the White House."-

Liberal common sense rejects this notion. How can it be that everyone in America loves obie, except the 3 or 4 Fox viewers? Could it be that maybe, just maybe, there is a growing resentment towards a president who can't seem to always tell the truth? Who can't seem to deliver on the wild and insane political promises?

As time unfolds, obie will end up in a trick bag. On one side, he will have his core liberals, pushing him to tax the hell out of anythng that has two nickels in it's pocket, and on the other side, will be the big corporate donors who are really pulling obie's strings, telling him to persuade the rest of the people to accept what makes them rich, either case, mind you comes at the expense of the American public, the one's obie said he would fight for.
Poor bastard, he is in it soooo deep and he doesn't even know it yet.

Hey, the last Administration did that in spades. Think PATRIOT ACT (a bill that no one read, that was written, proposed and signed into law in less than 30 days...a bill that granted immunity from lawsuits to pharmaceutical companies for the vaccines they, through BIG GOVERNMENT legislation force on the American Public). Think, for example, pc25's favorite little pony, the Dan Rather incident that he is so obsessed with. Think of the eaves-dropping (which had NOTHING to do with anti-terrorism) which the Administration fostered on this Country?

Troops close Honduras radio station
The interim government on Sunday announced a ban on unauthorized gatherings on Sunday [AFP]
Honduran soldiers have raided a radio station in the capital Tegucigalpa aligned with Manuel Zelaya, the ousted president, and shut down its operations.
Radio Globo de Tegucigalpa was taken off the air on Monday, a day after the military-backed interim government announced strict limits on civil liberties for 45 days.
"Soldiers assaulted the radio this morning, took over the station and took it off the air," David Romero, the radio station's director, said on Monday.
He said that all the staff had managed to "escape" and that no arrests had been made.
In a sign that the interim government is under pressure over the raids, the de facto president said that the restrictions on civil liberties would soon be lifted.
Buildings surrounded
Radio Globo has a reporter inside the Brazilian embassy in Tegucigalpa where Zelaya has been staying since he slipped back into the country a week ago in defiance of an arrest order against him.
Television station Cholusat Sur - viewed as critical of the interim government - was also raided early on Monday, Romero said.
Police and troops cordoned off the Radio Globo building and the offices of Cholusat Sur, witnesses said.
The stations were shut down a day after the government announced a media clampdown and a ban on unauthorised gatherings.
Both stations have been taken off air several times since the coup on June 28.
'Final offensive'
The new media restrictions, announced on Sunday, came as Zelaya called for a peaceful "final offensive" to mark the three-month anniversary of the coup which removed him from power.
[Does Obama plan to shut down Fox News because they aren't favorable to him?]-

I find it fascinating that, on the one hand, the liberals belittle the significance of Fox, claiming that SpongeBob Squarepants has a larger audience and, with the other hand, demand it be shut down.
Reply
If Fox is that insignificant, why aren't the liberals mature enough to ignore it? And, when the Right returns to power and tries to do the same thing to the leftist-controlled media, who do you think will be screaming the loudest?
No matter. This is one time we on the right should emulate those on the left. When we return to power, we should treat the leftist media with the same respect that Obama treats Fox.-

cause libs aren't demanding that fox be shut down. (not this lib at any rate. and I haven't heard obama call for fox to be shut down).
we're just calling fox out for what they really are: they are not a legit news channel, they are not fair and balanced.
thats it.
and it is true that spongebob gets more viewers than fox shows, but it really doesn't matter. because viewership numbers don't make your show more or less true. the neilsen rating isn't a truth meter.
people go to fox to have their opinions echoed back to them. not for news. -

which is why people are tuning into Fox now, to see for themselves what all the fuss is about...Murdoch has stated that since Dunn's and Gibbs' stepped up attacks on Fox the ratings have tremendously increased. This country elected a person who has never been questioned in his life. The nerve of those people to ask tough questions. So much for the spine of steel that Biden referred to during the election. He doesnt have the fortitude to stand up to criticiism at home how is he going to stand up to the leaders of the world? oh wait we already know, he is capitulating and apologizing to anyone and everyone, starting with Medyev on missile defense. -

Can you find even ONE balanced and fair (or even positive) story EVER on FauxNews concerning Obama? Can you?
As for other media, even Rachel Maddow has criticized the Obama Administration on certain policy points. Did FauxNews EVER criticize Bush?
If they (FauxNews) have ever put forth even one story critical of Bush or one neutral or positive about Obama, please, prove all of us "liberals" wrong by posting that story or article.
I bet you can't... -

So now you are counting on the average American to be as narrow minded and ignorant as yourself? I used to watch Fox quite a bit to see what they were up to and if they truly were "fair and balanced" as advertised. Now I simply can't stand 5 minutes of this dreck. Even the fluff pieces on Obama are getting nasty. It's even worse when they try to fake balance. Because it is simply not there. And no rational Democrat is going anywhere near the place.
