she never even scored a point in that exchange.

i guess the question from me would be, of all of those cancer survivors in the us, which ones will be able to obtain health care post cancer when they need it, without going bankrupt.
the first issue (raised by dr. furchtgott-roth) is one of quality of health care, and the response is debatable, i guess. the second question, and the subject of the exchange with sen. franken, is access to health care, and the financial implications of having to pay for your own.
by the way, b, the swiss dont have a government run health care system, but they do have one hell of a government run insurance regulatory system. -

He is such a liar. Remember that amendment about that woman that was raped and could not get any help because of the arbitration clause. Well while Franken was making his speech she was in court suing the company she worked for. And you libs fell for it hook line and sinker.

I agree with you about all the unknowns talking about other countrys like Switzerland maybe the hospitals dont charge 15,000 $$s + a day or the doctors 2,000 $$s per hour. We dont even know how much of the swiss peoples income they take and or the cost of living in Switzerland. Maybe they dont run to the doctor every time they get a hangnail or maybe they dont have to do a bypass on 3 out of every 10 men over the age of 60.

according to the American Journal of Medicine...
in 2007, 62% of all bankruptcies in america were due to medical bills. that's up 50% since 2001.
and most of those who filed for bankruptcy were middle-class, well-educated homeowners.

You heard about Keith Olbermann trying to organize free health clinics in certain areas?
Reply
He had an organizer of free clinics on last night. She stated that 83% of those attending the free clinics are employed middle class Americans who, for 1 reason or another, can't get insurance or have extremely crappy insurance.

For all of you who think you want medical coverage like medicare:
Reply
My husband and I have medicare. Sounds great, right? just what everyone wants.
Costs us over $5000 a year - the Medicare is taken out of your social security check, and then we have supplemental policies because medicare doesn't cover a lot of things.-

i'd have swapped you for private care. which i had to drop..
Reply
you pay little over 400 per month for two..
try being self employed .. try 2250 PER MONTH for coverage for 2 . AND they wanted to raise my premiums to 2850 if i renewed. in 4 years. i got maybe 5000 in benefits for AROUND 100,000 in premiums to Blue Cross. .
ANYONE THAT WANTS TO DISPUTE THAT . PUT 100,000 IN USD CASH IN A SUITCASE AND FLY TO SOUTH FLORIDA . I'LL MEET YOU AT THE AIRPORT WITH THE SAME.. AND YOU CAN SEE THE MONTHLY RECEIPTS.. WINNER GETS BOTH SUITCASES. .SO BUY A ROUND TRIP TICKED BECAUSE I'M NOT PAYING FOR YOU. -

My wife and I have private insurance that is picked by her company. After the company and our expenses/co-pays/contributions, we're at about $9500 per year.
Reply
Can you get private insurance at your husband's and your age and what would be its cost? That would be a better comparison.

The only thing i question about any of this data on medical bankruptcies is how many can no longer work because of medical reasons to make the house payment or cars or creditcards. I for what it is worth would be for a non forced or fined buy in to medicare or medicaid with premiums set by income level. Everyone should pay a little more FICA rather than just picking on one income level as nothing should be for free for anyone. For free only helps breed corruption!

costco has an individual & family plan health insurance.
In California there is Kaiser.
Once before,Will, you stated something like this on another subject, and when asked about it, you said, "I was just giving an example of what it might cost."
So, I find it hard to believe your figures. -

The sad thing about this country is the complete lack of knowledge the average citizen has over here about European health care. Trust me, it works. I lived under it for many, many years. No one in any westernized nation thinks that health care should be a profit-driven industry except the United States. And we have the spectacle of Republicans on here -- ya know the ones who wrap themselves up in Jesus and patriotism every chance they get -- basically their view is "Oh, ya got sick? Sucks for you, now get off my lawn before I shoot ya." People, we ALL OF US are ONE MAJOR ILLNESS AWAY FROM RUIN. Some 67 percent of bankruptcies because of medical bills ARE PEOPLE WHO HAD SOME FORM OF INSURANCE AND THOUGHT IT WOULDN'T HAPPEN TO THEM BECAUSE THEY HAD IT.

If you take any advice from this comedien...you need to be hit in the head!(most liberals do) Dont kill this country....don't doom this country to a civil war by overtaxing us. Don't follow these moron liberals into a war between liberals and conservatives. This country was formed because we were tired of being overtaxed.....imagine what will happen if Obammy and reid, and the democrats try to socialize tyhe country!! Bad things will happen
