Public Option: It's Back »
Posted By Newperson 1 month, 2 weeks ago in Political NewsThe public option. The idea was believed to be dead. Liberals wanted it, but Senate vote counters insisted it simply could not pass the Senate. The dynamic, however, has changed. The public option may be back from dead. I am told that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is leaning toward including the creation of a new government-run insurance program – the so-called public option – in the health care reform bill he will bring to the full Senate in the coming weeks.
Democratic sources tell me that Reid – after a series of meetings with Democratic moderates – has concluded he can pass a bill with a public option.

those who want private insurance are welcome to do so.

If the people who want private insurance don't have to pay for the public insurance, and you don't force doctors to accept the public option (because the public option will not reimburse well), you might have a winning idea.

I don't know what the dems are thinking on this one. or if they're just listening to the whispers of the Big Insurance money.

cause without a public option, most on the left will see any type of reform as a sham and as a complete failure on the part of the dem leadership. and 2010 and 2012 will just be another re-shuffling of the power deck up on the hill, with lotsa dems losing their seats. -

I received an e-mail from Moveon this morning wanting to know if we should tell democratic congress critters that Moveon will not support them in the next election cycle if they don't support a public option. I voted that we should withhold support if they do not support a public option.

What the f. Sarkozy is losing in popularity in France and it doesn't matter what he does. He thinks he is another Napoleon. When his parade goes by he is waving at the guards holding back the imaginary throngs.
