Quick: How long did the 100 year war take??
    Are you kidding??
Who could EVER expect ANYONE to come into office and see the results in less that a year??
You surely must know that your comments are just being made out of dislike for Obama.
    Honestly.
What leader has EVER effected change and saw the results in 9 months??
Even Hitler didn't begin the Blitzkrieg until he was in charge for 3 years.
Did JFK accomplish desegregation in 2 years??
Did FDR end the depression in 5 years?
Come on Slate, you're smarter than that.
It's not yet about what "has been" and it is ALL about what WILL BE.

LOL,,,,,,,, nice try. Obama could have come in on day one and taking care of,,,,,,,,

Defunding both wars and coming home.

Taken care of torture. Well has in a sence. He now sends them to Egypt, we all know those guys never torture.

He could have come in and said no more wire tapping.

He could have said no more bail outs.

He could have closed Gitmo on day one.

SO many other things still undone. Surely after you said give him a hundred days, then give him twohundred now you say give him a year, after that you will say give him two, then 4 then 4 more, then most likely, you will start with the idea of maybe extending terms to 3-4-6, so he can get er done,,,,,,,, and when he is 75 and still nothing is done, if you are still here, you will still be saying "it takes a long time to undo Bush's 8 years.

"It's not yet about what "has been" and it is ALL about what WILL BE." Please pull out your crystal ball and enlighten us on what will be.

He could have done all of that on day one. He could also have ended the financial crisis on day one. He could have defeated the Taliban and el Kaida on day one. He could have done so many things on day one, but with no lasting effect.

Slate you are stirring the pot, but it is empty and just getting hotter. Try using that huge orb of yours for something other than
spinning your own wheels trying to derail a good thread.

A good thread about sticking your finger in the Rs eye by saying you lost so shut up and sit down? I know that's the approach the left took when you lost didn't you?

Slate, you know as well as I that if he had done any of those things, the Right would have hollered he was being reckless and irresponsible.

he's being irresponsible for dragging his feet on the big problems and only working on issues of his own creation.

            to me, its classic procrastination.

Your answer is classic useless. (and very unspecific)

Bush's administration came up with t policies that Obama ran against.

now that he's in, he's adopted them as his own.

                wrong question. what's stopping Obama?

No right question. But its good to see you support Obama now much the way you supported the Dumyas policies. His continuing them should have you lined up behind him lock step. ROFLMAO

AND if you need to know whats stopping Obama it seems its a lot of Repugs(you know the ones who voted against Frankens gang-rape amendment to withhold payment from companies denying employees their day n court) and insurance company backed dems. But youknow that grass-roots based support you keep saying is building against Obama, it's building but it seems to be PRO public option.

If we didn't make most of the bail outs our dollar would be worthless soon.
You argue about the methods, but have no proof that it won't accelerate the recovery or slow down the decline. No one has concrete facts. This is new to all.
So, let''s just make sure that it's not mostly going into the pockets of the guys who caused, or enabled, the mess. Isn't that a reasonable approach?
Because, doing nothing would have been suicidal.
Gas was $4.25 at that point. The entire economy was in jeopardy.
No one ends a war in 30 days.. For all intents and purposes Iraq is winding down appropriately.
Afghanistan/Pakistan is where we should have put 100% of our effort in 2001.
Can't you wait another 24-36 months to see if we can finally do what hasn't been done since Ghengis Kahn??
Bin Laded picked THAT region for a reason, as have many before him.
35,000 troops were not going to do it, because IT is like another Vietnam, never knowing who is disguised and amongst the population..
But, unlike Vietnam, we were attacked by the Taliban and Al Quaida and we MUST do it right.
I am very certain that when Obama runs for re-election he'll have a long list of accomplishments. H may even be able to get some of the "impatient" votes.
By the way. I happen to be in favor of the death penalty, wire tapping and torture (under certain circumstances). The government needs all the tools of war it can get.
We're fighting against people who perform public and videotaped beheadings.
They MUST be treated like animals.. Or should we play the bagpipes before we attack too?
