Fox News is home to GOP in exile »
Posted By Progressive 1 month ago in Political OpinionA revolving door exists between the Republican Party and Fox News Channel, with a number of former Bush administration officials, former and potentially future GOP presidential candidates, and Republican strategists on Fox's payroll and airwaves. A Media Matters for America review of Fox coverage since September 1 reveals that these individuals, typically hosted alone or on unbalanced panels, often use their airtime to advance false and misleading claims about Democrats and progressives, as well as to fundraise, further demonstrating that Fox is effectively a conservative political organization and not a legitimate news outlet.

It's true that Limbaugh did nothing newsworthy yesterday...but then--he never does anything newsworthy.
~Progressive, from "Limbaugh Compares NYT Reporter" thread, when asked why he submitted this as a story.

That's why it's submitted under "Political Opinion".
Incidentally, although this submission is not about Limbaugh, as the story you flatter me by referencing, do you find this story newsworthy?:

--I think you mean the *counterattacks* in response to the crap coming out of FOX's horsesh*t factory-- and the administration's response has been going on for barely a couple of weeks. How you know what's backfiring because of a dip in CNN's ratings is anyone's guess. Someone has some serious ODS. -

Overall, 25% of respondents watch Fox News at least once a week. That number includes 23% of Democrats and 14% of Independents. The obvious partisan standout is Republicans with 52% watching at least once a week. Similarly, regional viewing is heavily weighted to the south with 39% of southerners tuning in to Fox News. The rest of the nation is far less attracted to the right-wing network who draws significantly fewer viewers from the west (23%), the midwest (21%), and the northeast (13%). Also notable is the dismal performance of Fox amongst young voters (18-29) and minorities, at least 80% of whom report that they never watch Fox News. In fact, more than 50% of all of the groups of viewers (party, region, ethnicity, age) never watch Fox News, except for Republicans (38%).

Rupert Murdoch is the Godfather ... Protector ... of Far Right Ideology in this country.
Of course, it's not out of any kind of PATRIOTISM that he does this.
No ... he's not even an American. Oh sure, he signed the papers to become a citizen - but truth be told .. Rupert Murdoch is a Citizen of no nation.
He inhabits an Ideological World ... where loyalty is measured not by flag pins or by carrying a gun into battle. The Right Wing Ideologue doesn't give a hoot about any nation they live in.
Do you realize that every one of the the Bush cabinet who were followers of Leo Strauss, the man who created the under-pinnings of Neo-Conservatism - - (today's brand of Republicanism) - - were Draft Dodgers?
Ask yourself why ... the reason is ... like many opponents of our President Obama ... their loyalties are to the Far Right Ideology ... NOT to America.
Dick Cheney ... Straussian ... did not serve in the military ... but devoted his entire life to Neo-Conservatism.
Paul Wolfowitz ... Straussian ... did not serve in the military ... but devoted his entire life to Neo-Conservatism.
Donald Rumsfeld ... Straussian ... did not serve in the military ... but devoted his entire life to Neo-Conservatism.
Newt Gingrich ... Late to Strauss ... did not serve in the military ... but devoted his entire life to Neo-Conservatism.
George W. Bush ... influenced and acclimated to the principles of Leo Strauss ... applied many Neo-Conservative principles ... and not surprisingly ... also did his best to avoid going to 'Nam.
Now ... I'm not saying that you have to serve in the military to have patriotism ... far from it.
But it is interesting to me ... that the rage and virulent passions with which supporters of Modern Republican work so hard to fight against our President Obama.
To me ... it's becoming apparent ... that ... like Rupert Murdoch ... their loyalties are NOT with the United States ... but rather ... with their Ideology.

Actually, you are making an indirect accusation that you have to serve in the military to be a patriot. I'll show you.
1. Your second sentence talks about patriotism and how R. Murdoch is not a patriot.
2. Then you call Leo Strauss and a bunch of Republicans "Draft Dodgers".
Either you suck at structuring your arguments or you're a liar.
Either way, doesn't matter. No one really pays any attention anymore. -

sorry Goppy gotta correct you on one. Rumsfeld did serve in the military..
Reply
Rumsfeld served in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1957 as a naval aviator and flight instructor. His initial training was in the North American SNJ Texan basic trainer after which he transitioned to flying the Grumman F9F Panther fighter. In 1957, he transferred to the Naval Reserve and continued his naval service in flying and administrative assignments as a drilling reservist until 1975. He transferred to the Individual Ready Reserve when he became Secretary of Defense in 1975 and retired with the rank of Captain in 1989 -

You are entitled to your empty, meaningless opinions. And another box of Depends. Not necessarily in that order.
You've already been humiliated in front of the entire world with the challenge to compare jobs created for Americans by Murdoch to the fortunes stolen from the minority community (and all Americans for that matter) by your exploiting billionaire, George Soros.
No comment? Of course not. You've slam dunked into silence on that one.
Which network did George Stephanopoloploguagodoluus end up at? And which administration did he shill for? Speak up or type louder...we can't hear you.
Which network gave Obama prime time slots to present his socialist health care package? What? Isn't that the same network whose owner stands to reaps billions off of heath care software sales to the federal government so the Socialists in DC can track every American's health and financial history?
Not serving in the military is not being patriotic? (your pathetic pretensions to the contrary notwithstanding) That's funny. Clinton said he loathed the military, and that only sent you liberals into an orgasmic frenzy! Turbine said our military are war criminals, and that only caused you liberals to go find a hotel room to finish your business! Here's a clue: sign up or shut up. k? We're tired of hearing about how only YOU liberals care for the military. How come Bush was insensitive NOT to greet coffins at Dover, yet Obama has now golfed more than Bush did in 3 years and we hear not a peep about him going to Dover?
Newsflash, gramps: WE GET YOU! You don't get you, but we do. And the stench rises with every post. Stop acting like the creepy old guy at the prom trolling for teenies. -

But, amazingly, not too difficult for W & Cheney - via their staged "town hall meetings", paid "journalists" at news conferences, & planted stories.
As to Obama, what you call "dissent", the rest of the world is calling "lies, innuendo, deceit".
They have no prob w/dissent. That's why they've been trying to work WITH repubs like grassly & snowe - not to mention the TONS of rep amendments on both the stim & budget - instead of silencing them.
Keep trying. Sooner or later, the odds say you'll find SOMETHING that actually sticks. -

Call out Faux News for what they are is hardly trying to silence dissent.
probably hard for Hitler too
Ever actually study History? Or do you get yours from Glenn (crybaby) Beck.
"He silenced all opposition, and engineering successfully the burning of the Reichstag building February 1933, advertising it as a Communist plot, called for a general election, in which the police, under Göring, allowed the Nazis full play to break up the meetings of their political opponents. Only under these conditions did the Nazi Party achieve a bare majority, Hitler arrogating to himself absolute power through the Enabling Acts. Opposition within the Party he ruthlessly crushed by the purge of June 1934 in which his rival Röhm and hundreds of influential Nazis were murdered at the hands of Hitler's, the S.S., under Himmler and Heydrich."

I think we all should watch fox news from time to time whether you are for or against what it says.

How can we know fox is spreading hatred and lies if we never watch them? So I am not surprise that there are a number of democrats and independents watching fox. You need to hear what fox has to say, analysis the contents. Then decide for yourself whether those are BS, and they are in my opinion. -

Actually I believe you are comparing apples and oranges. The Fox news channel is the primary source of misinformation. It is a "news" channel. NBC is not a "news" channel. It is a general entertainment channel with short news segments. Comparing Fox news channel to MSNBC might be more accurate. When you try to provide "news" 24/7 it becomes filtered by "analysis" and opinion in order to fill the time available.

If FOX NEWS isn't a REAL news station, I feel sorry for the Country. If they don't keep telling us the TRUTH who will? Not Obama's Cheering media. Acorn would still be getting money to tell people how to avoid paying taxes and sneaking children accross the border to work for pimps. Truth or wake up sorry. I will continue to seek the truth.

What is unusual about this is the direction in which the revolving door is turning.
Reply
Normally, it is employees of the press who jump the fence and go to work for politicians; it is far more lucrative to be a spinmeister for a politician or a governmental institution than it is to write for a newspaper. And journalists are always much in demand as Public Relations hacks because they know the ropes in terms of how to work with the press and get their info into print. -

What I find interesting is that mediamatters compares "opinion" shows to "news" shows. Neither Huckaby, Hannity, Beck, etc. try to portray themselves as "news" shows and almost every show make a disclaimer to this fact. For mediamatters to ignore this and to equate the two types of shows is spin and close to telling a "lie".
Reply
So who cares what guests appear on "opinion" shows? Just exactly why is it that Fox shouldn't be allowed to broadcast what "opinion" shows they feel will generate them the most money. The other cable networks do the same thing and try to compete. Please don't try to tell me that Matthews, Brown, Dobbs, Olberman, and Maddow consider their shows to be "news" shows. That would be the ultimate in spin!
