Obama says, "I will never hesitate to use force to protect the American people or our vital interest, I also promise you this- and this is very important as we consider our next steps in Afghanistan; I will never rush the solemn decision of sending you into harms way, I well not risk your lifes unless it is absolutely nessary."

There are numerous options on what can be done in Afghanistan. There are arguments for each of these options. See this article for one argument.

Read about McCrystal's argument elsewhere. This is not an easy decision and must be made with the greatest of care. Any decision is likely to lead to more loss of US lives. This is simply another seven year bungle by the previous administration that cannot be resolved in a few short months. There is no easy answer and in fact may not even be a totally right answer at this point. -

I could see, and agree, with the proposal to build a stratagy first, but the Obama administration already knew the Afghan government was corrupt.

If the troops in the field have learned of this, their morale will be diminished. If Al-Qaeda and the Taliban are aware of this, their morale will be emboldened.
If we lose Afghanistan, and if Iraq goes bad as a result of recent decisions...Obama will be held responsible. -

Yeah,we need decisions made on that type of mentality..
Right wingers just froth at the mouth with the prospect of more death and war..When the dumb one was throwing our troops into Iraq without the proper armor and troops were dying it was like a feeding frenzy for the right and any one that didn't agree was a terrorist symphatheiser..Now,more blood, more expense,MORE war..What they don't realize is that it is their best and brightest (sarcasm) that created the messes that Obama is now dealing with.Whats ironic is that the ones that say Obama isn't doing this fast enough are the very same ones that applauded bush and cheneys disasters..Are they lining up at the local recruiter with rush and beck...NO!!!
I am damned glad that we have a commander in chief that has the intellect to think about the situation and develop a strategy..BTW,he has increased our troop presence in Afghanistan.
What is really sad is that we might not be having this debate if bushboy had listened to his officers and went to war where the enemy was (Afghanistan) instead of the blunder in Iraq.-

I'm a right-winger. I served in Iraq, Kuwait, and Pakistan. I didn't just serve under Bush, I served under Clinton.
You are wrong. I don't froth at the mouth to kill people and fight wars, but I do know that you can't stop a war, in the middle of a war, just because the President wants to rethink his strategy. The enemy is emboldened.

This foolish president who a lot of people say is so smart. When you have troops on the ground in a war decisions are required quickly. Deliberate on them but quickly. Do not ask the political people but ask the people in charge of the troops. Politicians do not have the training or knowledge about what is really happening there.

Obama is being a politician at a time when his duty is commander in chief. This is very stupid. People are dying as a result and more will as time goes on and our situation gets worse. -

Obama is rushing everything else - rushing around doing fund raisers, rushing around greeting our enemies.
Well,Obama is rushing in everything because everything is a priority but he can't rush to send troops because he doesn't have to just let them killed and then you would blame him for taking the wrong decision to send them to Afganistan. The problem is that he is trying to undo what the idiots have done. So it is better for him to completely withdraw the troops and find a common ground with the Taliban and dump Karzi for good because he is corrupt as the Bush administration.

Oh I'm sure Obama has a plan, but why would he want to broadcast it? Then everyone would know what he is going to do, he is only releasing what he knows they want to hear. he can't tell, you all know there are them that knows and that is why he's not telling so they dont know what he's going to do.

And Bush is responsible for this dagone war, if he would of went after the right ones it would be over. but no he wanted revenge for daddy. he did not go after the ones who invaded our country 9/11 and I hold it against him that was wrong in him.
