Obama Taking Us On Path To Fascism - The Philadelphia Bulletin Archives »

Posted By RTHTGakaRoland 1 month, 1 week ago in Political Opinion

1 of 1

During the last presidential campaign, I said there was a light whiff of fascism coming from the Obama campaign. That was based on its habit of improperly trying to repress criticism of every kind. Example: A Chicago radio station was planning on airing a critic of President Obama, who was publicizing the candidate’s close association with terrorist Bill Ayres. The Obama campaign organized a call-in campaign to flood the station with calls and prevent the critic from being heard. Anther example: The Obama campaign warned that any critics in Missouri would be subjected to prosecution there if they voiced criticism that was not true. There was a "Barack Obama Truth Squad” made up of prosecutors and sheriffs to keep critics in line, promising rebuttals and prosecution in appropriate cases (NewsBusters, September 29, 2008).

Now that whiff has turned into a strong stench of fascism, as the Obama Administration uses the vast resources of the federal government to squelch criticism and silence and intimidate critics. Here are some of the recent examples of that:

• The administration has organized a concerted campaign to marginalize, demonize, de-legitimize and destroy Fox Cable News simply because it, virtually alone among broadcast outlets, originates strong criticism of the Obama Administration and asks tough questions about what it is trying to do.

• When a health insurance company that marketed Medicare policies tried to warn its policyholders that Obamacare would hurt seniors’ insurance programs, the Department of Health and Human Services issued on a gag order on such communications with policyholders.

• When segments of the health insurance industry turned against Obamacare, Mr. Obama threatened to have the antitrust exemption of the industry revoked. When the timing of the threat is taken into account, it is clear that this was revenge and payback for Obamacare criticism.

• Any criticism of Mr. Obama and Obamacare is met with harsh criticism and what Mr. Obama once described as “calling them out.” For example, a recent radio address from Mr. Obama accused the insurance industry of misleading and improper criticism of Obamacare. The address lasted a little over six minutes, but did not sight a single fact or bit of evidence indicating that the industry was using deceptive tactics.

• Mr. Obama and his administration are willing to tell lies, and big lies, over and over again, perhaps on the Goebbels theory that if you tell a big enough lie often enough it will be believed. One of the Obama lies that I found particularly irksome was his claim after the Senate Committee passed a version of Obamacare that it was a bipartisan product.

• The Obama administration is known to favor and is now maneuvering to get some version of the Fairness Doctrine on the books to wipe out conservative talk radio. If Mr. Obama’s people can’t get the Fairness Doctrine revived, they’ll try to kill conservative talk radio with some other device such as “diversity” or “localism” requirements in broadcasting.

• Then there was the highly publicized attempt of the Obama Administration to use the National Endowment for the Arts to influence artists and others who received government grants to create “works of art” supporting the Obama program. This is not an isolated example of the illegal and improper use by Mr. Obama of the government to propagandize and campaign: “Senate Finance ranking member Chuck Grassley, R., Iowa, is raising concerns that a Department of Health and Human Services Web site that urges visitors to send an e-mail to President Barack Obama praising his health care reform plan may violate rules against government-funded propaganda.” That’s a report from Roll Call (Oct. 20). You will probably also recall the White House’s collection of e-mail names, addresses and comments of those making “fishy” comments about Obamacare.

• Mr. Obama and Democratic Congressional leaders have expressed support for the Employee Free Choice Act, which would abolish the secret ballot in union elections. This shows the willingness of Mr. Obama and the Democratic Party leadership to do anything to satisfy the demands of one of their voting constituencies.

• Mr. Obama has had a long and close association with ACORN, the corrupt community organization that has specialized in intimidation and other improper tactics to force banks to lend and has long been in the business of election fraud. That kind of anti-democratic activity is part of the picture that emerges from Mr. Obama and his administration.

• Mr. Obama and the Democratic Congress have been willing to indulge in outrageous anti-democratic techniques to get legislation passed: Not reading a bill before it is signed, not posting the bill on the Internet prior to voting on it, as promised, and keeping negotiations secret and one-sided, also in conflict with promises.

I’ve emphasized one aspect of fascism – its objective of the forcible suppression of opposition. But it also qualifies under the other elements, including the suppression of private enterprise and putting it under centralized government control. That is one hallmark of the Obama Administration, it expands government, contracts the private sector and places new and unprecedented power in the hands of a centralized, expanding government bureaucracy.

This government expansion also is a restriction of our freedom because as the government gets bigger, the individual citizen gets smaller.

I think today instead of having to argue with the liberal progressive about fascism, Marxism, communism or whatever ism. I'm just going to call it totalitarianism. Obama wants the government to be totally in charge of everything.

Totalitarianism, it's just a thug philosophy from Chicago. Don't worry they are from the government and they just want to help.

The obama Regime is or is dangerously close to violating Civil Rights Law, given the incidents cited in the article.

    U.S. Code > TITLE 42 > CHAPTER 21 > SUBCHAPTER I > § 1985

§ 1985. Conspiracy to interfere with civil rights

    (3) Depriving persons of rights or privileges

    U.S. Code > TITLE 18 > PART I > CHAPTER 13 > § 242

§ 242. Deprivation of rights under color of law

    http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/18/242.html

These sections are the key bits of law concerning the incidents of the story. The insurance gag order and antitrust threat, the "Fairness Doctrine" and similar efforts, the "Fishy"
snitch list incidents, and most distinctly the Missouri threats of prosecution by law enforcement are all serious attacks on the Civil Rights of Americans and the core principles of America.

I think that it would be pure poetry if the very petard of Civil Rights Laws that was improperly wielded (denigrating that movements once laudable principles) to impose obama and much of the Left’s agenda on America was the the one upon which the Obama Regime is soon hoisted.

Fascism is a system of government that exercises a dictatorship of the extreme right, typically through the merging of state and business leadership, together with belligerent nationalism.

Fascism is on the ascendant in the USA, rising cloaked under the mantle of the Grand Old Party.

Not to take an rthtGakawhatever posting seriously,
      - but for the record:

Liberals believe in the power of liberty.

We believe in education for all; because in that lies freedom.
We believe in health for all; because in that lies freedom.
We fear the bank's control over our lives
more than jackbooted thugs from the UN.

We believe in using government to do things.

We use government to limit big business from
owning our cars, our houses, our jobs, our media,
our schools, our health, - our lives.

Freedom should always be liberaly applied.

Again you resort to telling the "Big Lie": The Obama-Goebbels theory that if you tell a big enough lie often enough it will be believed. The key flaw in their theory is that believed is still not true, and all it takes is anyone to point out the truth. You trying it one line after I pointed it out does, however, get you some chutzpah points.

        FTA:

"• Mr. Obama and his administration are willing to tell lies, and big lies, over and over again, perhaps on the Goebbels theory that if you tell a big enough lie often enough it will be believed."

The inherent flaw in Obama-Goebbels theory is that even the biggest of balloons of the believed "Big Lie" still being subject to being popped by the first pin of truth is one of the prime motivators for these and similar Regimes suppression of speech, which is the the thrust of the article and a link connecting each case cited.

          FTA:

"The White House is brimming with socialists, communists, radicals and hate-America types. The only ideology not found there is one that respects American values and believes in American exceptionalism."

I quote this for two reasons:

          A. The fact that sentence is obviously as descriptive of the "Propeller Left" as it is of the Obama Regime that they support and parrot.

          B. The grouping of all these Socialists, Communists, Maoists, and Fascists illuminates the old Lefty lie and impossible wish that Fascism is anything but just another closely kindred form of the broader Lefts efforts at their collectivist dream.

Fascism, as with all forms of totalitarianism, is Force, plain and simple. Force is illegal in the private sector, e.g. rape, extortion, murder, theft. Only in GOVERNment is the moral switched and declaring that Force is legal and somehow good.

It has nothing to do with the GOP, get over it. BTW I am not GOP.

My comment is not about the subject of the article cause you guys are covering that. What stood out to me in the article was the rhetoric. There is NO SUCH THING as OBAMACARE! If you want to be taken seriously in your article then refer to it by its name or subject. Call it "health care reform", call it the "health care legislation". Using rightwing pundit scare tactics and catch phrases reduces your credibility and detracts from any legitimate argument that you might have.

The march towards totalitarianism many are talking about now pre dates the current President and his administration by decades. Look back over the last few decades at the gradual erosion of personal liberty in the name of government power and expansion. There are blatant examples of it if one cares to look into it. Like the expansion of police powers during the Regan administration, the use of our military as a world police force by GWH Bush and Clinton, The pushing and signing of such bills as the Patriot Act and the Military Commissions act by GW Bush. I am sure there are many other examples of this erosion that I am failing to mention.

I have also heard that many liberals are displeased with the direction that the current administration is taking, the fact they are dodging many of the promises that were made during the campaign and continuing on with some of the policies of the former administration.

While Mr. Deneberg is entitled to his opinions, I find it ironic that after 8 years of the most opaque and executivist (is that a word?) administration in American history, Obama is being labeled the 'fascist'. While the Gitmo situation is still being sorted out, Bush and Cheney had no problem denying habeas corpus to detainees, holding people for years without charges, as well as instituting torture as a means of intelligence gathering.

How quickly people forget that Cheney declared himself either part of the executive branch or part of the legislative branch, whichever was the most convenient. Bush issued more signing statement than any President in history. The Bush administration's policy regarding releasing documents under FOIA was to assume everything as automatically redacted unless there was specific cause to reveal information. Obama's policy is the opposite: Assume all information is to be released, unless there is a specific national security reason to redact.

As to the article itself, there is very little beyond subjective assumptions and misrepresentations. "...ACORN ...has long been in the business of election fraud."? Give me a break!

The bottom line is that the cons think Obama is a fascist because they lost the election and therefore control of the direction the nation is moving in. Obama isn't foisting his agenda on the American people but rather fulfilling his promise to those who put him in power. You lost. Okay! That's the real issue here. When your side loses, the side that wins controls the apparatus of lawmaking and policy direction. That is what the cons are referring to as fascism. The cons try to compensate for their numbers by being louder, more obnoxious, and more outrageous with their claims and allegations. This is true facism. Going to rallies to shout down and intimidate public speakers to make it seem like health care reform is not popular is a kind of fascism. And no, I don't defend this practice when the left does it either. Heckling is not debating. Its childish and anti-democratic.

In but a brief time in power the Obama Regime has racked up an imposing record of infringing our speech, property, and electoral Civil Rights and those of our fellow Americans. Case after case cited is cited in article after articledefend . The Obama Regime has used both cooperation with "community" groups and unions like ACORN, WFP, OFA, UAW, and SEIU and interactive internet tools, some at taxpayers expense, to greatly expanded its pool of co-conspirators.

We have, at least for now, protections under law; and some are enforceable by civil action, thus we are not dependent on the Regime's own Justice Department to assist us in defense of our Civil Rights.

                      U.S. Code TITLE 42 CHAPTER 21 SUBCHAPTER I

§ 1985. Conspiracy to interfere with civil rights (2) and (3)

                      http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/42/1985.html

We must: Be aware. Beware. Use all the legal tools that we still have, perhaps not for long, to defend our Civil Rights as Americans.
