And race matters how? A girl was raped repetitively, by a group that had no regard for who she was. It doesn't matter what color her skin was; it is still a ghastly and inhuman crime to have been brought upon anyone.

Just my opinion though I guess.

To hear the two girls in the CNN video really illustrates race relations when whites are a minority. I know the area, lived in El Cerrito, and studied in high school in Oakland. I am originally from Guatemala. From that perspective, of an immigrant and a latino, I have seen how whites are perceived by the majority on campus where latinos and african americans are a majority. The caucasian boys are seen as easy to beat up and with no street cred, and the girls are easy and promiscous. When I think of how racist whites were decades ago and how more violent they were against minorities, I sadly see that we are not any different. And on top of that we still believe that it is justified. Maybe my experience as a GUATEMALAN has enlighten me a little bit because I know how Central American immigrants are treated in MEXICO, being raped and killed with little media attention. The south of Mexico which is indigenous and Mayan is more welcoming but the rest which is full of racist mestizos that claim indigenous blood only when they come to the US. The US is overall fair just like Europe. I don't hear of any huge amounts moving to the middle east. Look at the record that they have there against immigrants, or read how they treat sub saharan africans in Muslim North africa. Talk about mistreatment!!! In conclusion, I think latinos and african americans should abandon the ghetto mentality and violence and start being productive. After saving for ten years, I am going back to guatemala now that I am an American citizen and hope to creat a business that creates wealth in my country. Latinos should copy me, be disciplined, non-racist and materialistic, and seize the opportunities to move up instead of staying for generations in the ghetto. Oh man. So many things come to mind over this story, I don't think I can sort it into a coherent comment. Thoughts on bad decisions, gang violence, bad parenting, a person's right to make their own choices, alcohol abuse, gun free school zones, and where the hell were the adults?
