Defending, Not Defunding, ACORN »

Fox News and its television personalities, including Glenn Beck, are pushing an agenda that is to the detriment of low income and working communities. The effort to single out ACORN by Fox News' political pundits is no coincidence.

"We are not going to stand idly by while the conservative right systematically attacks organizations such as ACORN who, over the years, have done a great deal to help low income and underserved communities. These right wing attacks border on McCarthyism. We are urging Congress not to join Glenn Beck's witch hunt, and vote against the continuing resolution to defund ACORN." – Robert Greenwald, Founder and Director of Brave New Films

    FTA:
"Brave New Films is pushing to get Congress to vote against extending the Defund ACORN Act. The House is expected to take up this vote sometime this week, with the Senate to follow in the upcoming month. Extending the Defund ACORN Act would essentially deprive ACORN of most of the funding currently used on voting rights, housing, minimum wage reform, and unemployment.

As part of its efforts, Brave New Films has come out to stand with ACORN by releasing a new video, "ACORN Under Attack." The video asks viewers to call Congress and ask that they vote against extending the Defund ACORN Act."

"By keeping ACORN charities on the list, the federal government is giving its seal of approval to a group that advised people to lie to the IRS. And this position is inconsistent with congressional intent, as well as the IRS and Census Bureau's stand that they no longer want to do business with ACORN," Grassley said in a statement Tuesday.

ACORN should clean up their act!

The republicons have been attacking ACORN since at least June 2008. This is class warfare of the rich against the poor. If the poor can't vote, they can't vote Democrat.

Let's apply the same rules to ACORN as we do to Halliburton and Blackwater.

Well since ACORN has proven itself to be corrupt and untrusting FOX has a good point. They probably were good at one time but not any more and everyone in the world knows it. Only after they clean up their act should they receive funding. Participating in child prostitution is not a good reason to receive funding. Even liberals should be able to understand that.

ACORN isn't designed to help people. That's the problem. How are you helping people when you don't care if they traffic illegal immigrants in prostitution rings?

Does that sound like "helping the poor"?

And yet, Democrats can't seem to keep themselves from giving ACORN money.

if acorn wasn't registering people to vote, the GOP wouldn't be targeting them.

why does the GOP have a problem with getting those under-represented segments of our society into the voting booth?

Where was FOX when Bushes Interior Dept was being bribed by Oil Companies with Prostitutes and Cocaine. They also were quiet about Blackwater compensating their employees with Drugs and often underaged Prostitutes while being payed billions in taxpayer dollars. They instead go after Van Jones and Accorn,Give me a break.

Maybe the poor unfortunates should get off their collective rear ends and go get a job. Oh, that's right. Their job is to stay home and breed and collect money from those who do actually go to work. Acorn is a corrupt agency whose job it was, was to get nimb-rod in office and to scam the goverment at any cost as evident in their last scandal. AKIA Nomad

Here's the real misuse of government funding from Haliburton/KBR:

"It is stunning that 30 Republican members of the United States Senate would vote to protect a corporation, in this case Halliburton/KBR, over a woman who was gang raped".

Here are those who vote to protect a corporation over a victim of rape:

      Alexander (R-TN)
      Barrasso (R-WY)
      Bond (R-MO)
      Brownback (R-KS)
      Bunning (R-KY)
      Burr (R-NC)
      Chambliss (R-GA)
      Coburn (R-OK)
      Cochran (R-MS)
      Corker (R-TN)
      Cornyn (R-TX)
      Crapo (R-ID)
      DeMint (R-SC)
      Ensign (R-NV)
      Enzi (R-WY)
      Graham (R-SC)
      Gregg (R-NH)
      Inhofe (R-OK)
      Isakson (R-GA)
      Johanns (R-NE)
      Kyl (R-AZ)
      McCain (R-AZ)
      McConnell (R-KY)
      Risch (R-ID)
      Roberts (R-KS)
      Sessions (R-AL)
      Shelby (R-AL)
      Thune (R-SD)
      Vitter (R-LA)
      Wicker (R-MS)

The thirty co-criminals, all republicans all the time.

As the recession has dragged on, conservative distaste for the poor has increased, egged on by the likes of Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh, who want to blame the country's economic problems on the have-nots:

ACORN should be thourghly investigated by the FBI under the RICO Stattutes. Unless or until they are cleared they should not be given Taxpayer money!
