Adult Stem Cells are Useful but Why Scientists look to Embryonic Stem Cells? »

Posted By WikiMap 1 month, 4 weeks ago in News

For years in order to harvest embryonic stem cells, which are believed to be one of the greatest hopes for curing any number of diseases and conditions including Parkinson’s disease, diabetes and spinal injury related mobility problems, the embryo from which they were being harvested had to be destroyed as a part of the process.

Harvesting the stem cell without destroying the embryo.

    Interesting.

Actually this whole "circus" will probably go away for other reasons. The best medical results are being obtained by using the individuals own stem cells for regenerative medicine. Has the incomparable advantage of being fully immunologically accepted. Expensive at present, but a matter ot time.

      Interesting article and comments.
My husband and I have a dear friend
who is in a wheelchair because of a spinal
stroke and he is looking into stem
cells and I pray that it works for him.

Can someone please explain to me why cord blood stem cells are not harvested and instead dumped down the sink everyday?

Assuming that the moral opposition to stem cell research
is based upon the argument that stem cells should be thrown
away instead of being used for research, this is patently
        absurd.

Seems to me if abortions are going to go on anyway why not let something good come out of it like embryonic stem cell research. It's a no brainer to me but who am I to say!

Cord blood is harvested and processed by various international medical groups. My wife and I have both had cord blood stem cell treatments in Mexico by a doctor who has his own laboratory. We are both happy with the results to date. My wife has lupus and I took them for back pain and general well being. NO downside, lots of folks have been helped, to many to list here and I have personnaly met these folks in the Doctors office while my wife gets her treatments.
