so what? He´s accountable for his mistakes and messes, no matter what today´s date is. He hurt the country despite the deniers wish to not speak his name anymore, as though they could conveniently sweep his disastrous 8 years under the rug. But whatever works for ya.

This article falls into a common error - mistaking US propaganda as fact with reference to the reasons for US military invasion/occupation.

Doesn't matter if the Taliban had a "respite." We're not there to liberate Afghanistan from the Taliban. Hell, the US arguably CREATED the Taliban by the same actions that created Al Qaeda. The US didn't occupy Afghanistan to promote equal rights for women, or to fight the war on drugs.
This is about oil, and access to oil, and about putting the vise grips on Iran. It was the case under Bush, and it is the case under Obama. Those who oppose oppressing third world peoples in order to take their natural resources should have a clear message for Obama on Afghanistan - STFU and get the hell out!
