I always thought voting records were somewhat confidential, but if you're neighbors are being sent information on your voting history, I guess not. I can't understand what this non-profit group felt they could accomplish by these actions. Any ideas?

How would anyone know your voting history?

The registration book would say if you had voted.

FTA: "In Virginia, records of individuals who vote in elections can be released only to candidates, elected officials and political party chairmen."

Actually, I'd rather have my neighbors know I vote in every election (most already know anyway) than have these privileged politicians know. Maybe my doorbell and phone would ring less and my mailbox be not quite as stuffed with so much that goes straight into the recycle bin...

      From the article
"Our efforts are totally nonpartisan," Girvin said in the release. "We believe that many people don't vote because they don't feel informed. Thus, we are encouraging them to become more engaged, more informed, and vote. We believe that democracy only works well when our citizenry votes."

I guess it is just a coincidence that two weeks before the Nov. 3 election, polls show McDonnell, a former Republican state attorney general, leading Deeds, a former Democrat state legislator, by nearly double digits.

How often and regularly one votes is a matter of public record in most states and jurisdictions. What's the big deal? Now if a jurisdiction had records on how these folks cast their ballots that would be interesting especially in light of most places use secret ballots. lol
