    FTA: "Barack Obama stands out as the first American president whose every instinct is contrary to America's essence. At home, every single one of his initiatives is directed at increasing government control in every area"

    Really? Have you lost your sense of direction? What was and still is the USA PATRIOT Act? It's perhaps the most intrusive stripping of liberties in US history, and it was signed by GW. What about the Telecommunications Wiretapping Act that built up a kangaroo secret court in Washington which rubber-stamped warrants to listen in to and apprehend thousands of phone conversations and e-mails? The article is simply not credible in its condemnation of Obama as the first President to cut American liberties, when it has been an ongoing problem leftover from Bush (and frankly from prior administrations too.)

      True, as Bill Clinton said;
      "If the personal freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution inhibit the government's ability to govern the people, we should look to limit those guarantees."

        Regarding the quote above, can you cite a reliable source where we can determine when Bill Clinton actually made that statement, and perhaps more appropriately, the context of the statement, if he actually said it.

        Almost every Google link using that sentence as the search parameters goes back to blog postings. There are some discussions which seem to agree the quote is either fabricated or not correct.

        Any possibilty you can link to the text of the speech or even better, a link to a video of the speech?

          A sensible request; I also would like to know
          the context. It does not sound like Clinton.

          It sounds like the sort of fake-left
          words that some people
          put into the mouths of leftist straw men.

              That's nice.
              Put up the link or say something coherent like 'oops!'.

              We have enough babblers already.

            I have to give a mea culpa on this one.
            Thanks for the heads up and the subsequent poetry was endearing.

            you are semi correct in that the quote from http://liberty-tree.ca/ appears to have been 'edited' to suit the political needs of the times.
            "If the personal freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution inhibit the government's ability to govern the people, we should look to limit those guarantees."
            Bill Clinton in an August 12, 1993 speech

            However I have found this;
            REMARKS BY THE PRESIDENT
            IN DISCUSSION WITH NATIONAL SERVICE VOLUNTEERS

            Adult Learning Center
            New Brunswick, New Jersey
            March 1, 1993

            Quote:
            we can't be so fixated on our desire to preserve the rights of ordinary Americans to legitimately own handguns and rifles -- it's something I strongly support -- we can't be so fixated on that that we are unable to think about the reality of life that millions of Americans face on streets that are unsafe

            So far I cannot find a video of this.
            Yet none the less, again thanks, and I’ll keep digging on this one although it is probably what it appears to be; an edit and a hatchet job.
