CNN Poll: 54 Percent Approve Of Obama »
Posted By TimALoftis 2 weeks, 5 days ago in Political NewsWashington (CNN) -- One year after he won a historical presidential election, a slight majority of Americans approve of the job Barack Obama's doing in the White House.
Fifty-four percent of people questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Tuesday approve of how Obama is handling his duties as president, with 45 percent saying they disapprove.
"Obama's approval rating of 54 percent is nearly identical to the 53 percent of the vote he won a year ago," notes CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "And in nearly every demographic category, the percent that approve of Obama today is within two to three points of the percent who voted for him in 2008. It's a different story when we turn to ideology. His approval rating among liberals is 7 points higher than the number of liberals who voted for him. But among conservatives, the number who like Obama today is down 10 points compared to his share of the vote among that group in 2008."

Another factor that may be boosting Obama's overall rating is the inevitable comparison with the man he replaced in the Oval Office. Fifty-seven percent say Obama has been a better president than George W. Bush; only a third say Bush's track record was better.
"Compared to Obama, Bush does fairly well among southerners and rural voters. But even in those categories, a majority still says Obama has done a better job than Bush," says Holland.
The survey also suggests that by 24 points, Americans think that Joe Biden is a better vice president than Dick Cheney.-

So, with all the fear mongering and hate speech being spewed from the right, even the southern voters polled don't buy into the rhetoric and see Obama's administration for what it is.......not perfect, but certainly better than what we were forced to endure over the previous eight years.

What I find interesting is that CNN has become desperate and has decided to flip the numbers backwards (in other words, Obama has 45% approval)...while George Bush during this month of his first year in office had more than 72% of America on his side...how desperate the Media becomes with their allies! So far, comparing on a month by month basis, Bush has beat Obama. But hey, nice try CNN! Nice try!

From the poll:
Reply
The survey suggests that the president's approval rating remains over 50 percent
even though most Americans disapprove of how Obama is handling the economy, health care, Afghanistan, Iraq, unemployment, illegal immigration and the federal budget deficit.
How does he do it?
"By retaining a reservoir of goodwill left over from his election to the White House a year ago. Six in 10 say Obama inspires confidence in them; six in 10 also call him a strong leader who is honest and trustworthy. Sixty-three percent say he is not a typical politician. More than half give Obama a thumbs-up on 11 of the 12 personal characteristics tested," adds Holland.
Only 45 percent say he has a clear plan for solving the country's problems -- the only item on which a majority has a negative view of him.-

ROFLMAO, he knows what hes doing. The righties are too busy claiming he wasnt born here, hes installing socialism, communism, fascism all at the same time, they, as a group, voite against human rights by denying someone access to the courts ar being gang raped, but above all they remember the mess the repugs made and who they helped while the middle class was being decimated by the policies of the right.

6 in10 think he is a strong leader , sounds pretty good to me. Some major problems handed to him by the republicans who's numbers are in the teens as they should be. -

I think since our President has been in office for less than one year I'll still cut him some slack. I'm more interested to see what he has accomplished after four years. I did that with Bush and I never liked him but I gave him a chance.

--------------------------
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 28% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -13. In addition forty-six percent (46%) totally approve and fifty-two percent (52%) totally disapprove.
The number who blame Obama’s policies for the nation’s economic woes has grown to 45%, the highest level yet. However, 49% still blame George W. Bush.-

Who believes CNN anyway? We all know where this is going. Anyone who approves of what Obama is doing is questionable. But, there are those who live their entire lives on credit and never really get ahead. Obama has just turned our government into that type of operation.

By the other side? What makes one statement credible and the other not? Point of view. And though it is great to have one, it doesn't provide any factual data. Neither does a poll. It only provides an indicator of how people feel about a subject. That *feeling* can then be manipulated by either side.
It is amusing to me that the marketing is apparently more important than the actual doing. It attests to the power of the media and marketing in this country. -

Do you all ever get out ? Read a paper ?
See if you can grasp this...Bushboy piled more debt on this country than any other in history..period.. 4.5 trillion is about what he inherited from Clinton to 11.5 trillion that he handed off to Obama..Most of that debt is in the way of loans from the COMMUNIST Chinese used to finance his war in Iraq and to give tax breaks to the rich...So to correct you,Obama did not turn our country into " that type of operation."..Credit goes to you and your heroes.

Not really. Polling organizations take pride in their methodologies and the accuracy of their results. In point of fact, the polling organization that is the outlier in regards to disagreeing with every other poll out there just so happens to be the one with the most right-wing bias reputation--Rasmussen. Yet somehow every single other poll out there (including Fox News, BTW) is part of some vast Liberal conspiracy to 'cook' the numbers in favor of Obama.
That is the very definition of paranoia.

I havent met even 1 person who thinks Obama is doing a good job with anything. There was one person who said he hasnt had enough time, but that the best I've heard...so just where the heck are these people (54%???) who think positive things about the job (not the man) Obama is doing?..I mean, other than those in the cities, or blacks, or young people who dont understand the world yet and think idealistically... I cant wait for the 2010 and 2012 elections to end this little experiment with this "feel good" president (it felt must have felt good for some whites to vote for him, you know, to be absolved somehow for slavery) But unfortunately, then you have to live with the guy and his policies...and they stink!

CNN is a credible polling organization? Why not use polls from MoveOn.org, ACORN,SEIU, NY Times, G.E. MSNBC, NBC, CBS and ABC?
Reply
Polls from organizations controlled by the White House or those who are waiting for more favoritism from Obama will give you the same results as the CNN poll did. Questions in polling can be put forth so the pollster gets the results he's looking for. The only valid polls are like today's elections where voters expressed their opinions and choices via the ballot box !! -

This is a true lie. Most polls find most people are 80% against OBAMA's policies. Next is Cap and Trade and it is this kind of poor reporter (ing) that the liberals are doing.

Liberals why not at least tell the public the truth? Is it so difficult or a plan?
Americans need jobs not this.
