They will get targeted anyway. Where can we find opposition not being targeted by the ruling class? We have that in what we called western decomcracies as well. There might be different level of targeting but it will always happen (99% of the time) when somebody challenged those in power.

-Election in Iran was stolen from Mousavi, no doubt about that. But then again up to this election Iran was depicted by the western media as an authoritarian theocracy. The very same people in western media who had for years depicted Iran as an authoritarian theocracy suddenly forgot all their past words about Iran and now are talking about election, students and ....
- up to this election Iranians have elected presidents who range from conservatives to liberal all through the election, something that the same western media ignored or did not bother to factor it into their Iran stories.
-This election was stolen from the Mousavi and his supporters and these students and others' protest of it just shows that they care for their votes. Ahmadinejad's government is as legitimate as the government of the Bush , the son who also stole the election from Gore.
-The Green movement in Iran is a local phenomena and that is why it was able to bring out millions of voters to the voting stations and later to the streets. Later when some among the protesters became violent, the mass demonstrations died down, millions turned into few hundreds. Green movement in Iran is the best face you can put to the saying that "All politics are local".
-Where does Iran go from here?
Those among the ruling party and the leadership who thought that they could have their way and ignore the will of the Iranians have learned their lesson for years if not for decades to come. I hope these students protests become a constant reminder and a headache for those who thought they could rule with the vote of a minority. As it is the Green movement in Iran has accomplished a LOT and they should watch that this movement does not get hijacked or get tainted by some radicals or agents of the OUTSIDERS. If the outsiders taint this movement, that will be the best gift that God ever gave to those who stole this election. Iran today is stronger, more vibrant than ever it has ever been.
-Those who voted for Ahmadinejad are there too and they are as real as the supporters of Green movement. I was talking on the phone with a friend of mine who is a strong supporter of Ahmadinejad. They have their own reasons, for supporting him, mostly , they believe that Ahmadinejad stood up for their interest even though they believe he has made many mistakes and he is a self worshiping jerk. But as my friend kept telling me" Ahmadinejad allocated lot of resources to us, the down trodden and the forgotten. They vote with their pockets not ideology. (I agreed with him that Ahmadinejad has allocated lot of resources to the lower income sections of the population.)We promissed to talk more about that. :) -

God bless and good luck to the protesters.

For to The 0 Man & Co. they, the protesters, are an annoyance to be ignored in his quest for a solution through 'soft diplomacy' to the 'Iranian nuclear weapons scenario' that is now a definite problem for the current US Admin.
